Denise shows up with a husband, moves him and his kid in, and then the two of them ups and leave the kid to be raised by her parents. Why didn't Olivia go stay with Martin's parents when him and Denise moved? Then Cliff and Claire treated Olivia so much better than their own grandkids, they acted like the twins annoyed them.

My guess is that it was the networks call, Keshia Knight-Pulliam was growing up and I guess they needed Olivia to keep the cuteness factor going but then after I zoned out when the show kept focusing on that Pam character in fact to this day I still haven't seen the series finale.

I'm watching the ENTIRE DVD series of this show now. I'm constantly being reminded what a great show it truly was. I'm on season 5. Between Rudy & Olivia, I like Rudy's character better. Olivia was a little annoying & too sassy for her age.

Regarding the whole Pam & her crew, the show felt they needed "new blood" on the show since all the 5 kids were grown up.

Mace Dolex, the series finale ends w/ Theo graduating from college.

I didn't like how Cliff and Claire made Olivia call them Dr and Mrs Huxtable. That seemed cold.

Another factor that could have influenced the inclusion of Pam and her friends was the potential need to make the show hipper in order to stem the tide of falling ratings which were being siphoned off by The Simpsons on FOX.

I liked Olivia, but Martin was too much of a stick in the mud. Pam and her goofy friends ruined the show for me though.

Rudy did have some "I'm an adult in a child's body" moments but for the most part, when Keshia played the role as a kid she was a natural. On the other hand, Olivia (Raven Simone) played the part as over trained child actress.

Yeah it just felt like they were being shoehorned in as a backdoor spin-off.

Denise was a failure and childish. She went to college didn't know what she wanted to do so she left which was fine. Then she begged her parents to send her to Africa to find herself then comes back with a whole family. Did not even let her family know a day ahead, nothing. Then after that she purposely did not complete the application for her and her husband to have her own house because she was scared. You decided to marry a man in the military with a child and now that you actually have to be an adult, you're scared? Then one day she just decides she wants to become a teacher despite her hating school. Who wants to be a teacher but hate school

Regarding Denise's character derailment, I think that was mainly due to Bill Cosby's still lingering anger at Lisa Bonet for appearing in a very squicky sex scene in the adult film Angel Heart, as well as his anger at her for being written out of A Different World when she became pregnant.

Yeah, what was up with that?

Very Cold.

Kind of like how Pill Cosby made his young acting coworkers call him Mr. Cosby.
