Fred Savage To Host ABC's Ricky Gervais Game Show
by Brian Porreca
March 8, 2017

Fred Savage is taking on a new onscreen role: game-show host.

"The Wonder Years" grad will return to ABC and host the Disney-owned network's Ricky Gervais game show "Child Support", The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Picked up to series in October, the show (formerly known as Five to Survive) will feature grown-up contestants answering 10 questions for a chance to win a cash prize. If the adult can't answer a question correctly, he or she can turn to a group of five kids (ages six to nine) who have been asked the same question.

Gervais will exec produce and ask the kids the questions.

"When I'm stumped, I turn to Google and my kids. I had no idea there was a television show in that, but now that there is, I'm thrilled to be a part of it," Savage said.

Noted ABC senior vp alternative Robert Mills: "Fred Savage has had a significant cultural impact in television throughout his career and we are thrilled to have him be our host."

The new game show is produced by Gervais as well as Banjay Studios North America's David Goldberg, Caroline Baumgard and Jeff Krask. Production begins next week in Los Angeles.

It looks like to me that ABC is gonna make a new version of Quiz Kids " A popular quiz show from the 70's and 80's that was hosted by sitcom creator Norman Lear" with Child Support and it will be awesome to see Fred Savage in his game show hosting debut because I never knew Fred Savage had talent to host a game show. I have always admired Fred Savage from when he was on The Wonder Years and seeing him in the Howie Mandel movie Little Monsters so we shall see what Fred Savage brings to the table in Child Support when it debuts in October 2017

What? I'm confused. Fred Savage is going to be the "host" of this game show but Ricky Gervais is on and asking the kids the questions? That sounds like what the host's job is so what on earth do they need Fred Savage for? I really don't care because I won't be watching it because it's got Ricky Gervais and he's an arrogant, smarmy, know-it-all jerk. I can't stand him.

Maybe Ricky will be the co-host or something.

Don't care. It sounds too much like Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader anyways.
