I've seen this episode so many times and just realized something. The Heart of the Tree was written by Henry Cuyler Bunner. Very lovely poem!! Anyway Ward gets a call from the owner of their old house about the missing tree and he calls him Mr. Benner. We never see him but apparently they wanted to use a name variation for Bunner. Did you all notice that? Also no mention of the author of the poem in the credits.

I like when Jerry Mathers recites it at the end of the episode. He did it very well. I don't think he could have done it as well in the later seasons.

Beaver recites that poem with such emotion and I enjoy how much Miss Landers appreciates it. The last stanza is the best. He could never have done that in Season 6.

When Beaver and Larry are digging up the tree, I noticed how they looked spic and span clean (ha, ha).
By the time Beaver gets home, he is covered with dirt. How'd that happen?

Good observation. They had to pull that wagon all the way home so the two houses must be really close. Maybe they had trouble and it fell out of the wagon. I personally don’t think the tree made it.

Right. Had this been real, that tree would be a goner. Also, in reality, no tree would come out of a hole with a nice, neat ball of dirt like that. Especially with two kids digging it out.

Yeah it looked like a tree you would buy at the nursery all well contained. In the wagon we see the dirt all squashed down when Beaver and Wally move it.

Also in Beaver's Dance how did both boys get so dirty just riding the horse? They were covered with dirt. I can see how Ward said they smelled like they'd been around horses.

That was dumb. If you have skipped dancing school you would think they would look at each other and say we better clean up. Beaver had dirt on his face. The cowgirl was totally neat and clean. Just like the tree episode we wonder where the dirt came from. Larry and Beaver must have smelled like a horse but Wally and Beaver really smelled from the carnival.

They should have skipped the dirt. Walking in with wrinkled suits and Ward noticing the horse smell would have been enough.

Yeah the dirt was over doing it. Still think they could have cleaned up. I don’t recall seeing them that dirty after the ride.
Speaking of mistakes. In the episode called Beaver’s Library Book he writes the book report and it’s really bad and he never gets another book to read. He finally finds the book much later I think he owes a 20 days fine so I wonder what kind of a mark he got on that lousy book report?

Well, at least he didn't write it from a TV show.
Another mistake: in Larry Hides Out, Beaver wanted to eat in his room, and W&J relented and gave him a plate. Later we see Larry eating it, and complaining about the meatloaf and carrots. What did Beaver have to eat? No dinner for him that night?
BTW they were dirty right after the ride. They were brushing off their clothes. I don't remember, but maybe they were even MORE dirty in the living room later.
