JamesG 02-24-2017, 09:28 PM "Doubt" Pulled By CBS after 2 Airings, "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" To Replace It

February 24, 2017
We have the swiftest cancellation of the season. CBS has pulled mid-season legal drama "Doubt" from the schedule effective immediately after two low-rated airings.
Per tradition, CBS is not calling this a cancellation. "Doubt" may return to the schedule at some point, possibly as a summer burnoff.
Next week, a repeat of "Bull" will air in "Doubt‘s" Wednesday 10 PM slot. The following Wednesday, March 8, "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" will take over the hour where the spin-off originally launched last spring. The drama’s Season 2 opener will follow the two-hour 34th season premiere of "Survivor".
Starting March 15, "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" will air behind mothership "Criminal Minds" as it did last season.
"Doubt" had a long road to the screen. It was originally developed and piloted last season and then partially recast off-cycle, with Katherine Heigl as new lead. The legal drama made TV history as the first broadcast series with a regular transgender character played by a transgender actor, "Orange is the New Black's" Laverne Cox.
"Doubt" got off to a disappointing ratings start, opening to a 0.8 Live+same day rating among adults 18-49 and 5.29 million viewers. That was the lowest CBS Live+SD in-season drama series debut in the demo and the lowest rated show on any of the Big 4 last night.
"Doubt" dropped -25% in the second week to a 0.6 in the demo and 4 million viewers (L+SD) in what was the series’ final airing (at least for now).

Too politically correct to fail?
king of comedy 02-26-2017, 09:44 AM Hard to believe.

I’ll just get it out of the way and say why this movie bombed: Katherine. Heigl.
I’m not even going to bother with an intro. The reason this movie has been bombing is because it seems like everything Katherine Heigl does nowadays ends up in failure. Her biggest success recently was The Nut Job and that was a kids movie so I doubt 98% of the audience cared she was in it! Otherwise, audiences have been pretty much staying away from everything she’s been in. One for the Money and The Big Wedding bombed at the box office. She tried returning to TV twice with State of Affairs and Doubt. Both were cancelled due to low ratings. State of Affairs was cancelled after 13 episodes while Doubt was cancelled after TWO EPISODES! She tried setting up an indiegogo campaign for an indie she was in, Jenny’s Wedding, and, while that movie did get made, it did not reach it’s goal of reaching $150,000. She’s also had to stoop to making commercials for Nyquil and Kitty Litter!
It just seems like, whatever she does now, no one wants any part of it. I guess it’s just because, in her career, she has burned a lot of bridges, with people like Judd Apatow and Shonda Rhimes, and she’s also infamous for having an awful mother whose also her an agent, which has made a lot of people not want to work with her. She’s also known for also having a giant attitude problem in general. It seems like a lot of the general public has heard these horror stories and, as a result, it has scared people off away from her, as they don’t want to see a movie starring her, knowing what a diva she is. Of course, part of it could also be that, even if they don’t know that she’s known for her ego, she hasn’t starred in a good movie since Knocked Up. In fact, her career since has been mostly made up of mediocre romantic comedies. Some of these, like 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth, were box office successes but, over time, I think audiences have wised up and realized that she has a terrible taste in projects, therefore they nowadays might want to stay away from anything she’s in because their afraid it’ll suck. And, as a result, they stayed away from this movie as well.
To be fair to Heigl, there are probably other reasons people stayed away from Unforgettable. I mean, it looked generic and completely forgettable. The plot looked like the most generic thriller ever made and it seemed like the movie was going to be very cheesy. Also, Rosario Dawson, though a talented actress, is not exactly a box office draw herself, even though she has a much better reputation than Heigl. I mean, her name isn’t exactly box office poison but it doesn’t really get butts in seats either! However, if the fact that both of her new shows were quickly cancelled it shows that no one wants to see Katherine Heigl in anything anymore and she was a big reason why this movie bombed!
80sTrivia 05-10-2017, 04:56 AM From the sound of things, she has brought all of this on herself. I had heard of her diva-like behavior, and now that everything she touches turns to brass, her career is in major jeopardy. You can't be a diva unless you have the talent and draw to make up for it!

JamesG 05-17-2017, 05:54 PM "Doubt" Officially Canceled at CBS

May 17, 2017
Midseason legal drama "Doubt", starring Katherine Heigl and Laverne Cox, was pulled from the schedule after only two airings and its cancellation was made official today.
CBS didn't include it in the list of returning/new shows for the 2017-18 season at the upfront presentations.
The series, which made TV history as the first broadcast series with a regular transgender character played by a transgender actor, Cox, got off to a disappointing ratings start, opening to a 0.8 Live+same day rating among adults 18-49 and 5.29 million viewers — the lowest CBS Live+SD in-season drama series debut in the demo.
It dropped -25% in the second week to a 0.6 in the demo and 4 million viewers (L+SD) in what turned out to be the series’ final airing.

JamesG 06-20-2017, 10:10 PM "Doubt's" 11 Unaired Episodes Will Air on CBS
by Lindsay Macdonald
June 20, 2017
After an abysmal premiere on CBS, "Doubt" found itself cancelled and yanked off the air after just two episodes. If you're one of the few people who was outraged at that move, never fear: CBS plans to burn off the remaining 11 episodes in July.
Executive producer Tony Phelan took to Twitter to announce the news that the short-lived legal drama would finally get to see the light of day. "CBS just announced that the remaining episodes of DOUBT will air at 8pm starting 7/1. Set your DVR’s NOW!"
Beginning July 1st, you can watch a new episode every week. The time slot the dead show has been assigned is not exactly conducive to viewing, being that it will air on Saturday nights, but we don't imagine there will be a huge number of people protesting, given that the ratings for the show were well below CBS standards from the jump.
"Doubt" will air Saturdays at 8/7c on CBS.
