Offhand.... Oba Chandler and the Rogers family Glen Consagra Thomas Drake Art Frankford John Hardin - murder and his allegedly haunted house is about 30 minutes from me currently. The Mann's haunted house in Lake Wales - about an hour away. Beverly McGowan Rebecca Young An armed robbery in the middle of the night at a drive up ATM in May 1995 - this was a special alert type deal A wanted pedophile was profiled as a special alert under similar circumstances. TheCars1986 02-24-2017, 01:21 PM James Cole (http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/cole_james.html) vanished without a trace after leaving a local restaurant/bar back in 1994. His parents lived less than a 10 minute walk away from the bar, and he was seen leaving the bar, but to this day he's never been found. asmitty 02-24-2017, 02:06 PM Tom Keuter happened in my state but it's like a 5-6 hour drive to get to the location for me. Arnold Archambeau and Ruby Brugier happened much closer. 1-2 hours away. I've actually been to the spot where the accident happened. I grew up near where Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin, two paperboys in Des Moines, IA, were abducted. Another boy, Marc Allen, went missing after Eugene. He wasn't a paperboy and he was abducted at dusk rather than first thing in the morning. I was always surprised that they were never profiled. Especially because Johnny's mother Noreen was very vocal about his kidnapping. I think if there had been any kind of suspect in either case they might have been more likely to be profiled on UM. There was literally nothing to go on. kadrmaskb 02-24-2017, 02:43 PM Chris Jenkins in Minneapolis in 2002 was an interesting case. Todd Mueller might remember that one? Nathan Edberg who disappeared in 1999 near the intersection of 694 and 35E in Little Canada right where I lived. Or Jacob Wetterling though his case was solved finally last year, he had disappeared in 1989. LakeForestPI 02-24-2017, 02:53 PM Woody Kelly was at my house 2 different times when I was a youngster. My mother is a business owner and he knew my moms accountant. 2 different times he tried to get my mom to use him as her financial adviser. My mother has always patted herself on the back for thinking he was a conman. Tap Dancer 02-24-2017, 03:38 PM The Colonial Parkway Murders in Williamsburg, VA. Colonial Parkway Killer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_Parkway_Killer) There are lots of articles and videos online. It's still brought up often in the local news. Todd Mueller 02-24-2017, 04:47 PM Chris Jenkins in Minneapolis in 2002 was an interesting case. Todd Mueller might remember that one? Nathan Edberg who disappeared in 1999 near the intersection of 694 and 35E in Little Canada right where I lived. Or Jacob Wetterling though his case was solved finally last year, he had disappeared in 1989. I agree, kadrmaskb. I was always hoping they would cover Jacob Wetterling, but at least his case was solved. I agree that the Chris Jenkins case would be a good one. It started off as another young drunk kid fell in the river, however there is a lot of evidence that he was murdered. It would make a great UM case. kadrmaskb 02-24-2017, 05:14 PM Yeah Todd, I knew you would remember that one. There is a book about it that his Mom wrote that is actually pretty good. What I can say about that case is, well the Minneapolis PD basically bungled that case as they wrote it off as another drunk college kid accidental death. I do not believe Jenkins was the target of some random serial killer like the alleged 'smiley face' killer. However I do believe he was murdered based off the physical evidence. One of the prime suspects in his death was and perhaps still is a Minneapolis Police Officer who at that time was off duty and was involved in a love triangle with Jenkins girlfriend. Minneapolis PD didn't admit it was a homicide until four years later and basically nothing has been done about it since. Are there any over in Saint Paul that would make the list? I lived in Ramsey County for two years in Little Canada. One, Toni Bachmann, she would have been a good one. But her creepy hubby after over 15 years admitted he killed her though her body has never been found and he pled out to manslaughter. kadrmaskb 02-24-2017, 05:16 PM Jacob Wetterling is so tragic but I am glad it was solved. It is sad and scary that Danny Heinrich was out as long as he was and was basically right under the cops nose. He was given immunity from prosecution on state murder charges in exchange for pleading guilty to federal charges and was sentenced to 25 years there. I suppose it is because based off 1989 law the most he could get for a First Degree Murder conviction was 18 years to life but it would have kept him from getting out ever again. Calliope68 02-24-2017, 10:40 PM 1. The murder of Sister Roberta Elam in Wheeling,WV 2. Although after UM ended the 2003 sniper killings in the Kanawha Valley 3. No one was ever charged and the murder remains unsolved. Yes I know it was long after UM ended dynoguy88 02-25-2017, 10:09 PM The Oakland County Child Killer. He killed 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, between 1976 and 1977. They were all separately abducted off the streets in broad daylight and held for days. All of them were bathed and their clothes had been washed clean before they were taken out and killed, then left in snowbanks. This happened in southeast Michigan, about 15-20 miles from where I live and grew up. There was an interesting fact regarding the final victim, Timothy King. After he disappeared, his parents were interviewed on the local news. His mother pleaded with the kidnapper for Tim to be reunited with the family so she could feed him his favorite dinner; Kentucky Fried Chicken. When Tim's body was found and exhumed, the contents of his stomach showed that he had been fed Kentucky Fried Chicken shortly before being killed. I could see a case like this being featured on UM. I wasn't born yet when this all went down. My parents were newlyweds and they remember the news broadcasts. But I don't think this case got much local publicity through the years. I, personally, didn't hear of the case until I was in high school. Unfortunately, after 40 years, the families still have no closure. There are possible suspects but nothing definite. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/defenders/oakland-county-child-killer-40-years-later undertakeress 02-25-2017, 10:50 PM Dynoguy, we must be neighbors. That last known victim of the OCC killer was murdered three years before I was born but that case haunts me. Especially since they all happened in such nice neighborhoods and in the middle of the day! My impression is that stranger danger wasn't as drilled into the public in the 70s as it would become in the 80s and 90s. Maybe the guy offered them all rides and that ended up making them easy abductions. I don't know. I just wish their families could get ANY news. The hunters murdered in Mio and fed to the pigs...that is something straight out of a horror movie. Thank GOD those killers are in prison where they belong. You could do an entire episode just on this case. siamesemeg 02-27-2017, 04:02 PM Sweet Kari Nunemaker. This case really shook up my hometown. I was a year older than her, and was at the same indoor soccer game with her the night she was abducted and killed. In fact, I was sitting in front of her, and we shared a laugh when an errant ball flew at us. I didn't really know her, but the image of her smiling and laughing behind me has been in my mind for 25+ years now. She hung out in all places us high school kids did, and I know the exact railroad crossing she was sitting at when she was abducted. Sat at it so many times. Lots of freight trains come through especially at night, and hold up traffic. It can be many long minutes, waiting alone in your car in the dark. It was horrifying when her body was found. Parents were frantic about teenage girls going out alone. My aunt bought me pepper spray. Though I've long since left the area, I was relieved to hear an arrest was finally made, almost twenty years later. It could have been a very good UM segment, but it was DNA database legwork that finally solved it. http://www.goshennews.com/news/local_news/man-convicted-years-after-murder/article_87a037cf-38a7-5934-8d26-4a15822ce67f.html LooksLikeCRicci 02-27-2017, 04:12 PM That's easy: Elisa Lam. One of the most complex and disturbing cases I've heard of in Los Angeles. I watched a video on YouTube last week of four friends who went to the Cecil Hotel with a camera. They went inside the exact elevator Elisa was last seen in. They also walked the fire escape all the way to the roof with no issue, which is, logically, the only way she could have gotten up there on her own. It's extremely dark up there under the night sky without some kind of a flashlight or even the light of a cell phone. There's also a back staircase behind the water towers that requires jumping to reach once you get to the top. If you've made it that far, opening and closing the door to the water tank is difficult because it's very heavy. If she were having some type of psychotic episode, all of these things would be difficult but not impossible. So they concluded, in their minds, that this was the situation. Cases like this where the circumstances are obvious but they can't make a case really frustrate me. This case struck a sharper chord with me than most. I think this had a lot to do with how the Disappeared episode present Patty as a person. It really struck a chord because she reminded me in a lot of ways of women in my family. I saw someone who was driven, motivated and self-made while at the same time vulnerable, kind and decent. Such a tragedy. Even though his mom had passed away, he was a successful medical student and had a good relationship with the rest of his family and his girlfriend. I can literally think of no reason why a person would walk away from all that. Plus, in the middle of a night out drinking with friends is the most utterly bizarre time to walk away from his life. But, other than him being missing, there are absolutely no indications of foul play that I've heard about. There are no reports he had an altercation with anyone the night he disappeared nor were there any reports that anyone had any reason to want to harm him. I'm not going to share the details then, except to say I was born and raised in the metro Detroit area, and other than Stephen Grant murdering and dismembering his wife, Channon and Chris's murders were the most gruesome I've ever read about in recent years. Even though his mom had passed away, he was a successful medical student and had a good relationship with the rest of his family and his girlfriend. I can literally think of no reason why a person would walk away from all that. Apparently it had been only three weeks since his mother died of cancer when Brian disappeared. I can imagine that must have been horribly painful. But I can't imagine being so distraught over losing one family member that you decide to abandon the rest of your family to start a new life. Last year when an article was posted on the ten year anniversary of his disappearance, this was mentioned in regards to Brian's girlfriend at the time... Unlike most others familiar with the case, Alexis doesn't believe in one theory. She now is numb to emotions inherent in the case, and her continued interest is rooted more in curiosity. Looking back, she finds it odd that a few days before that night in the bar, Brian told her to move on and find someone else, because he was struggling with his mom's death. And that a couple of weeks before that, he asked her to "just go away" with him. Little tidbits but it throws out the possibility that his mother's death might have messed him up more than originally thought. Although you would think there would be some trace of him in the decade since. To me, the bigger mystery is still how he got out of the bar. Unless I haven't read the right sources, other nearby buildings with security cameras would have caught him leaving the back exit to that building. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2016/04/01/unsolved-mystery-10-years-later-brian-shaffer-still-missing.html?start=2 Kane 03-01-2017, 03:14 PM I'm not going to share the details then, except to say I was born and raised in the metro Detroit area, and other than Stephen Grant murdering and dismembering his wife, Channon and Chris's murders were the most gruesome I've ever read about in recent years. The 2nd system has to be a form of punishment that also treats and educates. While incarcerated these offenders need to be contributing to society instead of being a drain on society. They will one day be back in society and so it's imperative systems are in place to reduce recidivism. There is one case Miami area case I can think of with some strange twists and underlying hints of cover up, at least on online forums. For whatever reason it never received much attention, even locally. I didn't read about it until maybe 5 years ago. It is the Jean Marie Stewart case in Miami Lakes. Early '80s. She was a wild teenager from the Pittsburgh area who was temporarily living with her boyfriend's family in Miami Lakes. Her friends threw a party for her one night before she was scheduled to return to Pittsburgh. I think she was returning for a wedding, or some formal function. It's been a while since I refreshed on this case. Anyway, she left the party and stopped at a nearby convenience store. The boyfriend supposedly went inside while Jean stayed in the car. Two minutes later he returned but she was gone. Gone for decades. Her remains were discovered a year later and not far away in Hialeah but somehow it took more than a quarter century to identify those remains. An online sleuth detected the key link when she saw emphasis of an overbite in both the description of Jean and also the description of the remains that had not been identified. It got bizarre years ago when I was reading an online forum and the thread extended page after page. Lots of accusations that the boyfriend was actually a suspect but that it was being covered up since his mother was a local politician. Something like that. Jean's close friend had led the online search for years but suddenly she was accused of unethical practices like hacking online forums that had posts relating to Jean's case. I remember getting dizzy as the accusers went back and forth. The Miami Lakes connection meant a great deal to me because I always enjoyed that area, especially as a teenager. The 826 (or Palmetto Expressway, as locals call it) makes a huge sweeping bend to the east, turning from a northbound freeway to eastbound. Miami Lakes is contained on the inside of that huge bend. It was always considered an upscale area, especially when I was growing up. There was a prominent championship course just inside the bend and also a decent par 3 course. Many Dolphin players during the '70s/80s heyday lived in Miami Lakes, including Don Shula. In fact, Shula opened his first steakhouse in Miami Lakes, although I believe that was much later, in the mid '90s. It seems very odd that a missing person's case and possible abduction could take place in that area. There was a surge in crime in Miami in the early '80s due to the Mariel boatlift and other factors. But that was generally in the more vulnerable areas, like the airport. Hialeah, where the remains were found, does have many seedy areas, then and now. undertakeress 03-02-2017, 01:19 PM I agree with this wholeheartedly. There should be separate systems for those worthy of a shot at rehabilitation vs those who need to be kept away from society. Some people are beyond redemption. I agree with this as well. The majority of people in county jails are in there for drug related offenses. If there was a rehab program and a training program to help them not reoffend, it would save taxpayer money plus makenproductive members of society. I wonder if it was the wrong details MacDuff gave that was the reason to rule him out. Jon 03-02-2017, 04:30 PM That seems likely. Austin PD have been desperate to solve this case for 25+ years. If they thought he was responsible they'd have every reason to pin it on him and put this to rest. I thought they might have had DNA (this was also a sexual assault case) but I haven't heard that anything came of that either. If McDuff's DNA didn't match, that's not necessarily conclusive because he was known to work with a partner, as he did when he raped & murdered Colleen Reed. Jon 03-02-2017, 04:38 PM Just an aside - at the time they finally arrested McDuff and charged him with Reed's murder, I think everyone in Austin felt 100% sure that he was responsible for the Yogurt Shop murders. Everything seemed to fit circumstantially: same month, both were sexual assaults as well as murders, he had targeted teenage girls in the past, and he was definitely in the area. undertakeress 03-02-2017, 10:43 PM I am starting to feel like McDuff is the catch all suspect for rapes and murders when he wasn't in prison. I agree with those who suspect the stepmother... Yeah, I think it was national news. I have a friend whose best friend's father worked for the Portland PD and apparently a recurrent theory is that he may have been sold into some sort of sex trafficking ring. The police were able to track her cell phone to Sauvie Island, which is just north of Portland on the Columbia. If that were the case, a ship could travel from there and be on international waters within a couple of hours. What really creeped me out about the case was the fact that the photo they used in the bulletins was taken within an hour of him disappearing. Very eerie. There's no doubt in my mind that Terri Horman was involved—too many odd things that simply do not add up. Her cell phone being tracked to Sauvie Island right after he disappeared speaks volumes. They did extensive searches of the island, but never did find anything to my knowledge. It's not a huge island, but it's big enough—roughly the size of Manhattan—but made up mostly of farms and wildlife. If he was murdered, I believe he was disposed of in the river and will probably never be found. As well, just like most UM cases the perps were caught, convicted and have since been released. It was very similar to the Las Cruses Bowling Alley murders in that the victims were the textbook definitions of innocent victims that were senselessly killed in a robbery. Another quality case would be the disappearance of Kimberley McAndrew. It happened in 1988 and she has never been found, nor has a suspect ever been (officially) made public. When he dropped her off around 9 pm at her apartment, he waited untill she got inside, turned on the lights, and let him know everything was okay before leaving. When Karen Benton, Debra’s roommate, arrived at the apartment next morning, Debra wasn’t home. But Karen’s brother, Thomas Chapman, was asleep on the couch. When she asked him about Debra, Thomas said he hadn’t seen her; he’d showed up at around 3 am and, according to him, the apartment was empty. The thing is, there was clear evidence something bad had happened. There was blood not only in Debra’s room, but also in the bathroom and some smears on the walls and the carpet, which also had drag marks. Thomas said he thought there had been some sort of accident, but apparently it wasn’t enough to get him to call someone. One of the detectives later said Thomas had explained he thought it was “menstrual blood” and had attempted to clean it up before going to sleep. The cop is quoted in an old newspaper saying “he’s just awfully naive.” Let’s stop here for one second. I can maybe believe that in 1979 a young man would be that clueless about menstruation, but if that were the case, would he be willing to clean it up? One of Debra’s neighbors told police that on that night she’d noticed a lot of movement over at her apartment. The lights were on and a male figure was walking all over. The neighbor later saw the man carrying something out of the apartment, and it could have been Debra. Debra remained missing for 218 days, until her body was found on December 10 among some bushes. The medical examiner determined she had died from stab wounds, but there wasn’t much more they could get from her skeletal remains. Police found a serrated knife in Thomas’ vehicle, which was tested and contained bone fragments, but it was impossible, at the time at least, to determine if they were even human. At one point, serial killer Henry Lee Lucas claimed responsibility for killing Debra. But as it was often the case with him, he knew almost no details about the murder and was just lying. The case remains unsolved but has been recently reopened and new technology will be applied to test the evidence they have. Occasionally my Mother will refer to the apartment complex as "Debra's place" being as she was in school with her at the time. mphs95 05-17-2020, 02:47 PM The Oakland County Child Killer. There are possible suspects but nothing definite. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/defenders/oakland-county-child-killer-40-years-later That would have been an amazing segment and it may have worked, too, although the main suspect is now dead. Nats2019Champs 05-24-2020, 12:01 PM I know it's since been solved, but I'm surprised UM never profiled the murders of Kristin & Kati Lisk and Sofia Silva. That was a huge topic of discussion when I was younger, that's really when I got my first serious "stranger danger" talk, it happened about an hour from me. I go to the old mall now named Wonderland village daily dynoguy88 06-14-2020, 04:04 PM I grew up near where Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin, two paperboys in Des Moines, IA, were abducted. I came waaaaaaay late to discovering the Johnny Gosch story but I watched the 2014 documentary 'Who took Johnny?' on Amazon Prime earlier this year and I have been completely fascinated and troubled with the case ever since. There are so many twists and turns throughout the years that you're bound to get whiplash. But the thing that still astounds me the most is Johnny's mother Noreen's revelation that Johnny came to her house in the middle of the night in 1997, 15 years after he had been abducted, now 27 years old, accompanied by another man that he didn't introduce. The fact that he stayed for about an hour and said "they'll kill me if they know I've been here," referring to powerful people connected to the sex trafficking ring, how they trafficked the kids throughout the country and how the kids were forced to do a lot of things that were illegal so therefore none of them would go to the police for help....the fact that Noreen kept this reunion secret for a couple years because she felt nobody would believe her and finally revealed it only because she was asked under oath if she had seen her son since his abduction...my head just spins over the concept of this whole thing. This feels like a story that SHOULD have been on Unsolved Mysteries. But I feel the subject matter involves theories that might have been....maybe a little too uncomfortable or controversial for the time? Yes, UM featured cases involving abductions, murders, robberies, rape, etc. But the concept of pedophile rings and child sex trafficking was so foreign to people in the 80's and into the 90s that maybe UM decided not to touch it? I don't know. Just a guess. infinityluxe 06-14-2020, 06:57 PM When this case broke in my hometown it made me think of Unsolved Mysteries instantly. An elderly retired black man went missing in 1984. He simply went to the store and never returned. In 2017 his vehicle was found in a pond under a bridge. He was inside the car dead in the driver's seat. He had been there 33 years. Very erie. BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - (08/22/17) - There are still more questions than answers after a man's remains were found inside a car submerged in a Buena Vista Township pond. A contractor for the Michigan Department of Transportation discovered a 1973 Buick Electra while diving in the pond on Aug. 15. The contractor was cleaning up barrels found in the pond. Police had the car removed from the pond, then discovered the remains. D/Sgt. Greg Klecker, with the Buena Vista Township Police Department, said they believe the remains are Julius Colwye. The 61 year old was reported missing in October of 1984. A key piece of evidence included in the original 1984 missing person file helped identify him. "What you do at the front end of a case investigation can really be valuable, just like today," Klecker said. "We look at, and we rely on, the original work that a detective did, and we're grateful for the work that detective did." Nearly 33 years ago, a detective added Colwye's dental records to his file, just in case. While investigators can't say the remains are positively those of Colwye's, the dental records, which do not include x-rays, are consistent with those of the remains. The Buick Electra also was Colwye's. Now the focus shifts from identification to cause of death. Since the beginning, Colwye's disappearance has been considered suspicious. "They suspected foul play because why would he voluntarily just go missing," Klecker said. Disappearing was out of character for Colwye, who many people called Pete, instead of his given name of Julius. Back in the day, detectives searched several places for Colwye. "They did drag the river," Klecker said. Klecker is now trying to track down aerial photos of the land from the '80s. "Vehicle was found in that pond in, you know, a certain position. We're just trying to figure out from a logistics standpoint, how did it end up in that position," he said. Klecker also wants to talk to people who knew Colwye before he disappeared, so he can finish what the other detectives started. "They did everything they could, they exhausted their efforts and at a certain point the case goes cold, and then you still don't have any discoveries, then it's a mystery," Klecker said. The first man to climb the ladder and look down over the rim made a gruesome discovery: The body of a woman was lying face down in about two feet of water in a depression inside the top of the fountain. The body was quickly identified as that of Shirley Lee Wigeon Parker, a 35-year-old African-American divorcee, who’d disappeared five weeks earlier “under mysterious circumstances,” according to The Baltimore Evening Sun. Shirley Parker was a bookkeeper, barmaid, and waitress at Baltimore’s famous Sphinx Club. Beautiful, vivacious and popular, she was a secretary in a branch of the Urban League and volunteered for the NAACP. She’d been married twice, first to a man who lived in Pennsylvania, and then to a disk jockey named Joe Parker, who owned a record store on Edmondson Avenue. She was the mother of two sons, one who lived with his father in Pennsylvania and a second, David, who lived with Shirley and her mother. The story of Shirley Parker’s last evening contains some contradictions. Most agree she was last seen on the evening of April 23, 1969, fashionably dressed in brown hip-hugger slacks, a yellow, orange and white print blouse, a rust-colored coat and pile-lined, knee-length boots. At the time, she’d been dating (and supporting) a 33-year-old man named Arno West. The night she disappeared, Mrs. Parker had gone to meet friends at a bar on Pennsylvania Avenue where, during the evening, she’d learned that Arno West had used her paycheck to buy a pants suit for another girlfriend, a woman who worked for the Social Security Administration. According to witnesses, Shirley stormed out of the bar around midnight and went directly to Gwynns Falls Parkway, where West lived with his mother. Neighbors say they heard the couple arguing loudly on the porch. West later told police that Shirley was “very upset,” but denied the claim that he gave her “a nasty blow.” After their fight, however, the couple seems to have calmed down. West took Shirley out to another bar, then to visit friends. According to the Afro-American newspaper, “Mrs. Parker seemed angered about some matter and that he took her for a drive to cool off.” After the drive, West said Shirley asked him to drop her off her in Druid Hill Park, near the lake. “After she got out of the car on Cloverdale Road, near the park, and started walking, he told police he became worried and followed her,” reported the newspaper, adding that before he drove off, West noticed Shirley climbing over the 15-foot-high iron railing around the lake. He returned to the scene, then “he handed her purse to her after she was persuaded not to enter the lake.” He then drove her home, according to West, though Shirley’s mother, Theresa Wright, said Shirley never came home that night. Later that week, according to West, he noticed Shirley’s purse hanging from the inside of the railing surrounding the lake in Druid Hill Park and reported it to the police. Those who knew her say Shirley Parker just wasn’t the kind of person to leave home with no explanation, and her family was immediately alarmed. A nationwide search led to sightings as far away as California. One woman claimed she’d seen Shirley in Baltimore the morning after she was reported missing. A Baltimore medium said she was getting vibrations in the case and promised she’d soon have an answer. She predicted that Shirley’s death “will soon reveal one of the most horrible crimes in history.” Three weeks later, baffled by the lack of clues, the police dragged the lake in Druid Hill Park, but no body was found. That’s because Shirley’s body wasn’t in the lake, but in the fountain, where it was discovered on June 2. But what was she doing in the fountain, and how did she get there? Her body too decomposed for the coroner to determine the means of death, only to rule out several causes. She wasn’t strangled or stabbed, and she hadn’t used narcotics. “There were no needle marks, and we were particularly interested in whether she died this way,” said Dr. Edward Wilson, an assistant medical examiner, in an interview with the Afro-American. Dr. Ronald Kornblum, also an assistant medical examiner, reported to the Afro-American that the body showed no gunshot wounds, but it was “possible other indications of foul play had been washed or decayed away.” The recorded verdict was death by hypothermia, though Kornblum admits, “it is possible she was drowned before she was placed in the fountain,” though not possible that she drowned herself. There is a bike trail that is at the center of his disappearance that I constantly run on, and from where he was last seen to where he lived was less than a 5 minute walk. He was last seen drinking at a restaurant/bar at 1:30 a.m. in the morning, and when the employees started to close down, he left, presumably to head home. He's never been found. The problem is, if he somehow died from exposure, alcohol poisoning, etc., why hasn't his body ever been found? As you can see, there aren't any real wooded areas around where he could go unnoticed (and the area has remain largely unchanged since 1994). His family searched the routes he would have taken home, and nothing. The guy simply vanished into thin air. marlins3 04-27-2021, 08:14 AM I came waaaaaaay late to discovering the Johnny Gosch story but I watched the 2014 documentary 'Who took Johnny?' on Amazon Prime earlier this year and I have been completely fascinated and troubled with the case ever since. Immediately after seeing it, I tried to watch as much stuff as I could about the case. Noreen's recollection of a clandestine meeting with an adult Johnny is just bizarre to say the least. I feel so sorry for her, but I think she may be delusional. Johnny's father does not believe the meeting happened. That said, I do not discount Paul Bonacci's claims. I don't believe the photographs were of Johnny, but I don't dismiss Bonacci as an attention-seeking kook either. The one claim that kind of bugs me is that Johnny was the first person to appear on a milk carton. Etan Patz was on a milk carton a couple years before Johnny. The milk carton claim is made on Vanished . I don't recall if it is made on Who Took Johnny marlins3 04-27-2021, 08:21 AM How Cherrie Mahan never made it to UM perplexes me to this day. To my knowledge UM never linked any of these murders together to focus on a possible serial killer or multiple killers in that area. Although I do wonder if some of the single features in that area, like Tara Breckinridge or Rhonda Johnson and Sharon Shaw could be related. Michael Self was possibly wrongfully convicted for Rhonda and Sharon's murders and another UM featured serial criminal, Edward H. Bell apparently confessed to their murders and several other murders in that area. I actually think that Edward Bell fits the profile of someone who could have abducted Tara Breckenridge, whether he followed her from her night club or he merely passed her on 610 and stopped to abduct her.
