OK...here's what I mean. 'M*A*S*H' for instance.

Here's a show that I started watching only after it had come into syndication.

For a while we watched it religiously...and always at the same time. (right around dinner-time)

Now, I got SO used to watching this show...(a 'comfort' show if you will)...that I'll turn it on every time I see it!

Problem is...(and I know I'm gonna get flamed on this one) for the most part, I HATE IT!!!

I watch intensely, and actually talk-back to the TV regarding some of the STUPID dialogue and situations!

Now don't get me wrong...sometimes it'll stir a coupla 'guffaws' outta me, but for the most part it's a struggle!

So, why do I continue to watch it? I was hoping you could tell ME!

Anyone elso watch a program, simply because it was once part of your daily viewing regimen for one reason or another?

Perhaps you watch the show because it brings back memories of happy/happier times, such as dinnertime with your family.
Just a theory, and I'm certainly not a psychiatrist.

I still watch ER every Thursday night, even though it has gone from a fast-paced medical drama to a boring, melodramatic soap opera. I love it, but I hate it. It's weird.

And it's SO weird, as much of a struggle it is at times...I just can't seem to change the channel!

Maybe my tastes have changed...I musta thought it was funny at one time, or I wouldn't have watched it!

SOME episodes are better than others...but they all contain 'those moments'! You know...that dialogue you'd NEVER hear anyone utter in 'real-life'!

Hmm. I'm trying to think if I do that.

Well, sometimes I do it with the new Family Feud. I'll watch it because it's Feud, and I love Feud, but I HATE Louie Anderson to the point of yelling at the TV and the surveys are stupid. Yet I still watch it every now and then just because it's Family Feud. It's on opposite Richard's Feud on GSN, so I usually keep my sanity by watching that instead.

If you're talking about M*A*S*H, it was set during the Korean War, not WWII. :)
