I don't watch the 5th Season since Cheif Carl Kanisky was killed-off, but I have seen the ep "Love Kidney" which was on Season 2 where Carl gives Ed his own kidney.

What blows my mind is that the Chief who's worried that he won't survive puts Nell Harper in his will to take care of his daughters...and in Season 5, Chief dies and Nell is handling Chief's daughters.

Did they give this prediction of season 5?

I think it was a coincidence especially since Dolph Sweet died from cancer not kidney failure.

These are some very interesting points. In any event, I am happy to see some new conversation being stimulated.

In season 3 he had lost weight and Love Kidney was part of season 2! My guess is he began to get sick in season 2 by the time they filmed this episode so they wrote that in like that and they recalled him saying that when Blanch showed up to take the girls away later in the season!

My guess is during hiatus between 2 and 3 he had surgery of some sort or had cancer and that's when he lost all that weight by the time season 3 rolled around! He looked good though in season 3! Just smaller! Season 4 he lost even more!

It was during hiatus of 2 and 3 he did lose weight! Maybe he just wanted to--or he was getting sick or had surgery during the hiatus of those seasons--

When you see him in season 3 he looks good! He looked his best in season 3!

The scene where He and Grandpa went out for a walk and then came back during the episode "Melissa" he looked like he'd lost a lot of weight!
