View Full Version : Another FOL reference on Gilmore Girls
JWood201 04-30-2002, 08:30 PM On Gilmore Girls tonight there was another FOL reference.
Kirk made a movie and was talking about how he has ambitions to be like some director (some Japanese name...)
Lorelai: "Oh, that guy who directed Seven Samauri"
Kirk: "What? Oh, wrong guy. The one who directed all those Facts of Lifes."
Lorelai: "Don't know."
Kirk: "Asaad Kelada."
Lorelai: "What?"
Kirk: "Asaad Kelada. I want to be like him."
Okay, I paraphrased. I was too busy laughing to actually listen. heh. Just sharing....
Swimfan85 05-01-2002, 10:22 AM yep I noticed that, actually Karli originally told me cuz I was working on a lab, but I taped gilmore girls....great show....good reference

FolFanatic151 05-08-2002, 02:57 PM Ok, I know this is a FOL board, but can someone PLEASE tell me what exactly happened in that episode, especially with Rory and Jess in the car!!!!! Thank you. Umm, here, I'll relate it to FOL...umm, ok, here's a question, do you think the writers or whoever like FOL because this is the 2nd reference to it on the show, or do you think they are, like, making fun of it?
KarenTj24 05-08-2002, 04:04 PM In last weeks's episode, Rory was joyriding with Jess. They jumped to the scene where Rory is in the hospital with a hurt arm, calling her Mom they they were in an accident. I taped last night's show and haven't watched it yet, so I don't know if more info. on the accident was revealed.
In March 2001, I went to a Gilmore Girls restrospective they had at the Museum of Television, Radio & Broadcasting every Spring in L.A. I adore GG and each and every quirky character on that show. They had the cast from GG there to answer questions, etc. The executive producer/writer Amy Sherman-Palladino seemed a bit wacky but very creative and clever. She wrote the Lauralei character with Lauren Graham in mind. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a devout FOL viewer. Amy She was born in 1966 so she was certainly of age back then to watch FOL.
Come to think of it, it'd be a great idea to get together a writing campaign to get the FOL cast together for such a MTR retrospective. The room holds 200-300 people. This year it was held at the Director's Guild. The cast and director, etc. watch two episodes of their best episodes together with the audience. They answers questions from the audience afterwards. Plus there's usually time for photos and autographs when they're done.
The MTR has these retrospectives for old shows and current shows. Hey, I just might look into this further....
