I am not sure that June was treated all that well by the family.
The boys seem to take her for granted and treat her like a short order cook
There was one time when Ward was doing bills( I think) and he dismissed June and told her to go upstairs and stop bothering him.
It seems that June gets talked down to a lot.
Is it just me?

I always saw Ward and June as equals. Ward may have had the ultimate authority when the need arose, but the Cleaver household was a very loving atmosphere and Ward was no dictator. There were family decisions that Ward had the final say on, and decisions that June had the final say on. I think it was a fair setup.
Though I do agree that June was frequently taken for granted especially by the boys. I think most kids are like that unfortunately. It's just how the world works, that you fail to appreciate all your mom does for you after a while.

I'm not really seeing that she was talked down to. She had opinions and expressed them.Traditionally the husband/father had last say in the decision making, but she definitely had opinions of her own and many episodes show that. The brussel sprouts episode for one comes to mind. "oh Ward..." or "wally.." was used several times to express her discontent with something. I always got the feeling that the character just didn't have a lot of writing for her. The show didn't center around June, but I always got the sense that Ward definitely really loved her and treated her very well.
