Years ago, actually really decades ago I used to like watching entertainment award shows, whether it was The Oscars,The Emmy Awards,Music award shows and so on.That was back in the days when entertainment was still good.I enjoyed the actors and actresses and personalities of that time etc. However I have not watched an entertainment awards show in many years now. One of the main reasons I no longer watch them is I have no interest in modern entertainment and anything associated with it. I may be extreme but I also thnk it's ridiculous to even give awards to most of what they make nowadays. Do you still watch them? What are your opinions?

Not a chance. Those things have turned into political sermonizing and I don't care to hear an actors opinions any more than I do the guy that works at McDonalds.

I do from time to time but I'm usually doing something else while I'm watching them.

Because of those hellishly long acceptance speeches, just the Oscars. Tradition, mostly. Love the Kennedy Center Honors, but the Mark Twain Prize is running low.

Good grief, I don't think there's anything I'd find more torturous to watch than those awards shows. Between the spectacle of the entertainment industry giving itself a self-loving tongue-bath, and the stream of smug political lecturing from presenters and recipients, the only thing these modern awards shows leave me with is an inclination to throw up.

I still watch the Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmy's but with frequent channel surfing back and forth to something else when it starts to get boring.

I don't bother with SAG, Mark Twain Prize, Kennedy Center Honors as they all seem pretentious BS.

For music I guess it depends if there's a particular song that I want to see performed onstage then most of the time the every music award show is garbage.

Oh and the MTV movie awards are funny sometimes when they're not nominating the latest young adult adaptation or Twilight crap.

Totally agree.

I used to watch the award shows but they started to really bore me and they got too political.

If I do watch an awards show it's usually just the Country Music Awards just to see the old timers.

I haven't watched the Academy Awards in ages. I got sick and tired of seeing all the blockbuster movies getting snubbed, and the awards going to some obscure, foreign-made movie I have no interest in watching. You know about the "Annual Awards" I post on Chit-Chat every New Years Eve? I started this in 1975 as an alternate to the Academy Awards (For the record Escape to Witch Mountain :ufo: was the first "winner"). :D

I watch the Emmy's and the Oscars but it seems like there is always an award show on for something anymore. Awards for this or that, see the same celebrity's walking a red carpet and they look bored too.

I said goodbye to the Oscars. I saw the Tony awards last year which was great because of Hamilton. The Kennedy Center Honors I still enjoy.

What I don't like about the Oscars/Academy Awards is that apparently if your film is not near to 3 hours long (possibly longer), or is not about war (with graphic violence, preferably, according to the Oscar people), it has no chance. Outrageous!

I almost always watch The Emmy's, Grammy's and SAG Awards. I often skip the Oscars because I don't see many films.

I've never seen the appear of an awards show, I think its just stupid to award an actor/actress for doing their jobs. Do police, fire fighters, or doctors get awards? NO! So why should actors/actresses?

Lunch , you said my thoughts. I don't watch for 80% of the stars I don't know or the programs I don't watch. With retro stations, I am way off on another channel. With the largest of cable stations now, we are not pushed into only 3-6 station like we were back in the 1960's.

I have never even heard of and have no idea who over 99% of todays celebrities even are.I know being on TV,the radio or in the movies nowadays means very little, really almost nothing compared to decades ago,but still. I don't even like to use the word celebrity when describing todays or modern day "celebs" because it puts them on a pedestal they do not deserve.
