According to online reports, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) might be coming to an end. It has been reported that its time slot might be given to Megyn Kelly for a new talk show. This is scary news for any Days fan, as the soap opera has a very long history of entertaining audiences, with its very first show airing in November of 1965. Will it stay or will it go? It’s hard to say because the daytime drama does go on a year-by-year contract. As we all speculate on DOOL’s fate, let’s take a trip down memory lane as we review the top 10 greatest moments on the soap.

Seems to me that Soap Operas are becoming extinct. I think it is down to three shows now, General Hospital, Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. The shows are probably expensive to produce with a lot of actors and other people who make, produce and direct the shows. Just cheaper to put on a talk show or a game show in its place.

I think also that most people, amd especially women who made up a majority of the audience works now, and are not at home watching these programs. It is also difficult for someone who have never watched these shows before to get into watching them since a first time watcher doesn't know who is who, what is what or the storylines, a sort of a drawback to a serialized series.

All good things must end sometimes. Actually (as a male) I watched DOOL in the late 1980's in school at lunchtime. Stopped watching it, and then left the country for fifteen years. Came back home for a visit and was shocked that a lot of the same actors will still on the show in 2016 that were there in 1986, Kayla, Patch, A Martinez, even Victor (I think). Long time. All good things must end, and tastes change over time.

Lastly, what is sad is that mostly there are no reruns of soap operas. There are a scattering of stuff here and there, but there is no series one on DVD.....

TO QUOTE MY FAVORITE DOOL PHRASE.....One of the "bad guys" on the show (not Victor or Stephano) chimed concerning a suggestion from someone that he "would rather get his body hair shaved by a chainsaw" than do that. That was hilarious and even thirty years later, still use that line. So there.
