BARRETT, PATRICK - of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016, at home with his wife of 46 years, at his side. Patrick is best known for his vocal talents as a member of the 1950's Quartet, The Crew Cuts, who had hits like "Sh-Boom" and "Crazy ‘Bout U Baby" which was also penned by Patrick. Originally from Toronto Canada, Patrick became a U.S. Citizen in 1996. In 1984 The Crew Cuts were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, along with The Four Lads and The Diamonds. While he enjoyed all Sorts his passions were, NY Yankees, NY Rangers and NY Giants. He was a Stamp Collector and Writer of many dozens of songs which remain unpublished. He loved to travel, his favorite place being the Florida Keys and Key West. He had traveled the world extensively when he was with The Crew Cuts and was quite content to spend his retired years in the United States. His survivors include his Loving Wife, Ellen Barrett, Daughters Maria Adkins, Gail Luke, Grandson David Campagna, Sister Lola Barrett of Toronto, Canada, Nephew Gary Barrett and Family of Toronto, Canada, and many wonderful Friends he met in the 31 years he lived in Little Egg Harbor. A special Thank You has to go to all our "Extended Family" at the Grapevine Restaurant. Thank you for all your support throughout the years and so many Great Memories. Patrick Lived, Laughed and Most of all Loved all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. There were no services. The group may have done better if they had the name Crew Cuts sooner, since they did not have that group name to start with.
Another hit was a cover version of THE PENGUINS Earth Angel which rose
to the number 2 spot on the chart in Canada & had great success in England & Australia.
It peaked higher on the pop charts then THE PENGUINS version.
Crew Cuts took Earth Angel to number 3 on the pop charts in U.S.A.
Crew Cuts took their version of Earth Angel on to the British charts,the original version by THE PENGUINS was unable to achieve that.
The Crew Cuts are more popular in Canada for there non-cover hit songs.
In 1990 the Crew Cuts were inducted in the Juno hall of Fame.
