Girl Meets World - a sequel to ABC’s popular sitcom Boy Meets World - ended its run on Disney Channel (https://www.yahoo.com/tv/netflix-not-picking-girl-meets-world-exclusive-191815770.html) tonight with an episode that felt like a series finale and was titled like one too, “Girl Meets Goodbye” (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/52726-s03e21-girl-meets-goodbye/?do=getLastComment). The “goodbye” part was given a different connotation when the show’s penultimate Season 3 episode last week dropped the bombshell that Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) had received a job offer and was considering moving the family to London. After a lot of soul-searching and counsel by family members, with a slew of Boy Meets World alums making an appearance (https://www.yahoo.com/tv/exclusive-mr-feeny-returns-emotional-204500907.html), she opted to stay, calling Topanga’s coffee house her “bay window.” “Topanga is an incredibly strong decision maker,” Girl Meets

Maybe Topanga should have taken the job in London to make it realistic. They had a chance to teach a worldly lesson about sometimes moving is best for everyone, and they blew it. Sometimes parents have to make the hard call. They can't always pander to children.

Instead we get Riley and Maya in each other's life and they get their fairy tale ending. There are no hardships about this show. Sometimes the hardest decision is the best one. But they make everything too easy. They basically spent three years advertising codependency as a virtue and telling kids that they cannot function without the constant presence of a best friend who is tied to them for life.

Freeform (formally ABC Family) theoretically, could be an option in picking the show up. But even so, GMW would likely still be too young for Freeform even if they bumped things up to PG-13. Freeform has pretty much been targeting the 20-somethings for a while now.

i think the show has a good concept with a great cast and a built-n audience; I don't think they really did anything wrong, sometimes it got a little preachy and predictable but I don't think it was too bad.

The main problem with the show was Disney.

...as for the ending, it doesn't really matter if they stayed or left - the ending was still sad and at least they got to give us a send-off and some closure. I know that some people want shows to end with a major bus crash and all the characters getting killed off so they can never come back, but I really don't see how that type of ending is more satisfying than just giving us a natural transition or break point and knowing that for now at least the characters we know and love are going to be alright.

It’s been exactly one week since Girl Meets World aired its (makeshift) series finale, and fans of the former Disney Channel series remain glued to social media, hoping for an 11th hour save from another network or streaming service. The odds aren’t looking terrific at the moment — Netflix has confirmed it has no intentions of saving it, while a Hulu pick-up also seems unlikely — but much like the show itself, there’s always hope. Below, lifelong Boy Meets World enthusiasts Andy Swift and Ryan Schwartz debate whether the legacy deserves to continue elsewhere. SWIFT | OK, here’s where we stand: It’s been a full week since the finale, and even though Netflix (and probably Hulu) are out of the running, it’s still technically possible that the show could get another season elsewhere. ...

I hope they change their minds. I can't think of a more suitable home than that.
