There wasn't an episode of MTM to explain Rhoda's departure. Her last appearance on the show was episode #94, "Lou's Second Date," in which she and Lou become a "couple". Rhoda's leaving wasn't dealt with on the show b/c the premise of "Rhoda" was that Rhoda was just visiting her family in New York, and then she met her future husband Joe by chance and decided to move there permanently. That's right, I think there was just a scene with Mary and Rhoda on the phone. With Rhoda telling Mary that she had met Joe and would be staying in New York
