Friends Lake -Chestertown in the Adirondacks of NY state is around 60 miles from Mayfield, NY, depending on what route you take.

Remember Aunt Martha's statement, in the episode where she wanted to send Beaver to Fallbrook prep school, when she commented on the Cleavers' house looking so eastern, and being so far west.

That's right. But supposing Aunt Martha was from one of the New England states, it's plausible that she might consider New York state to be "far west." The fact that Friends Lake is within driving distance of Mayfield, NY is compelling.

So is the Mayfield of LITB Mayfield, NY? Is this consistent with other information we are given on the show? Of course there is no logical answer, but it is fun to speculate.

Actually the NY state Mayfield is quite small. I usually picture Mayfield being in Ohio or thereabouts.

Just find a state with Crystal Falls, Shadow Lake, Lake Crescent, Madison, Medford, Riverside, Bellport, Silver Lake and Cincinnati and we got it. Mayfield, USA.

i just happened to think, when they were accused of stealing the rowboat, I guess that's the Mayfield police station they were taken to...and Wally knew who the two boys were.

There have to be two Friends Lakes. I heard Ward also say Friends Lake was 60 miles away. Maybe they should have had them go to Crystal Falls for their scout camp out. That was far away. They had to come back home because it rained and they had no tents. Why would the scout leader rely on Eddie to remember the tents? Looks like there was no room for tents in that truck. June thought Wally was going overseas.
