Does anyone have a Amazon Echo or plan on getting one? Apparently,
you can talk to it and it listens, answers questions and preforms tasks
if its connected to other smart home devices. My question is does it record
everything it hears in your home? It sells for approx. $179. Here's a

I don't need "Alexa" to do things for me that could easily be done by myself. That's just being outright lazy.

I'll never bring an "Alexa" into my house because, yes, it does record everything that goes on around it, even when in standby mode. That's something that can't be avoided since it's constantly listening for the trigger word to turn itself on.

And like tlc38 said, it can't do anything you couldn't do yourself, it just allegedly makes things more convenient. The keyword is "allegedly"... I've never had much luck with voice recognition software anyway to be honest. :lol:

I was thinking the same thing, I've got two arms and legs that I can still do things on my own, I know Millennials who are already dependent on technology are into this junk.

Internet-connected devices may start helping in criminal cases. Police in Bentonville, Arkansas have issued a warrant to Amazon, asking the company to hand over data from an Echo device to help prosecute a suspected murderer.

James Andrew Bates, the suspect in the case, was charged with first-degree murder in November of 2015 after authorities found victim Victor Collins strangled and drowned in Mr. Bates’ hot tub..

Bates has several internet-connected devices in his home, including a Nest thermostat and a Honeywell alarm system, but the key witness in the case may be his Amazon Echo, which, as per The Information, police records say could have controlled the streaming music, which was being wirelessly transmitted throughout the night using Echo’s assistant Alexa.
