All In The Family, by a mile! If it wasn't for AITF, there would literally be no Jeffersons, Maude, or Good Times. Let alone Checking In, Gloria, and Archie Bunker's Place.

Some of Norman Lears shows were based on British comedies, and although he was associated with those shows,I personally do not give him credit for inventing those show that were based on British comedies. Most of his shows, including his versions of the British Comedies, are so good,I can not pick a favorite, instead I will list my two LEAST favorite:
1.The Powers That Be
2.Hot L Baltimore

Favorite Lear series? I'd probably say "The Deputy."

I remember that some of my classmates' parents wouldn't let them watch Hot L Baltimore, but mine did. I'm not sure if it was the content or the late airing time. My folks and I always talked about the shows, so if there was something I didn't understand they would explain it. Today, it would seem very tame.

But I agree, it was a good show that didn't get much of a chance. I don't believe I ever saw The Powers That Be (but I did kind of like 704 Hauser Street, which I think lasted about four episodes).

I watched all the NL shows when I was a kid. Many we watched as a family. Hot L. Baltimore wasn't on very long but I remember it being very funny. Also remember that James Cromwell of AITF and Charlotte Rae were in it before FOL. The Powers that Be was a very good show and had a great cast. I never saw Sunday Dinner so I don't know about that one. Same with AKA Pablo. I saw all the episodes of 704 Hauser and thought it was pretty good.

I had forgotten that Rae was on that show. I believe that Conchata Ferrell, who would later show up on Two and Half Men, was also on it, playing a prostitute.

I remember being really upset about Sunday Dinner being cancelled. I was 13. I don't think I would enjoy it nearly as much now.
