View Full Version : My weekend with LISA!!!!!
ABlairican Pie 04-28-2002, 09:44 PM Okay, now that you've gotten to see my picture with me and Lisa on the "Eugene" post, it's time for the story behind it!!!!
I took the train from Seattle to Eugene last Friday and spent the night there, waiting to go to the Oregon Right to Life Conference at the Valley River Inn the next day...and of course, I was NERVOUS.:( But the next morning (April 20), I went over there bright and early (okay, not really so bright...) and I went in
to a room where the message "Take a Bow for Not Bowing Down"
was given by--LISA. She sat in the row in front of me getting ready, and then she gave her pro-life message to everyone. After her talk a doctor gave an interesting discussion about the links between abortion and breast cancer, and then the session was dismissed.
So I went out and found Lisa at her table with her books and materials, and she said, "Hi, Greg!!" And I was so amazed--I said,
"I can't believe it--YOU REMEMBER MY NAME!!" And she said, "Of course I remember! Besides, it's written on your name tag!!"
(For those who don't know how she remembers me, I met her last summer twice in the space of two weeks at two different churches where I got to sing the Facts Of Life theme song.)
I then updated her on my mother's cancer condition (I told her before that I learned my mother had recurring cancer last summer)--the cancerous tumors had DISAPPEARED! Lisa said, "PRAISE GOD!!" And then she said, "How 'bout a HUG??!!"
So she just gave me a great big hug, it was totally EXCITING!!!!
There is so much to tell, but I'll get back to it.
MrsGarrettRocksMySocks 04-28-2002, 09:48 PM Sounds totally awesome! She sound like a very wonderful person!I cna't wait till I meet her in Mt. Vernon (i think I'll make my mom leave at about 2 P.M....the dinner starts at 6 and it only takes an hour and a half to get there...lol!) I will NOT miss it!
MyStErIoUs ChIck 04-28-2002, 09:49 PM omg...that's so cool! :D

It's a dinner? YOUR HAVING DINNER WITH LISA WHELCHEL?!?! Damn you! Ah...no I didn't mean that..honestly...I'm having a moment here....
ABlairican Pie 04-29-2002, 10:28 PM So as I was looking at more of her books and things on the table,
someone came up to her and said, "Sorry we couldn't have more sunshine for you," and I said, "SHE BRINGS THE SUNSHINE WHEREVER SHE GOES!!" And she just laughed!!!! So after a few more sessions dealing with cloning, stem cell research and Christian medical ethics (some very interesting things, I learned!! ) I visited her table again and talked about the verses from 1st and 2nd Thessalonians she wanted me to read last summer while my mother was going through the cancer ordeal. I was disappointed that other people got to take pictures of her and I didn't have a camera...:crying: until I had an idea... I went across the street to some stores by the mall and found--a disposable camera!! I went back and Lisa told me to come back at 4. I was sooooo ready....

I know but like...omg dinner....like what if she chokes and I save her from dying I could be like "OMG I SAVED BLAIR!!!!!!!!" And then we could become good friends, ya know, cuz after all I saved her life..
Honestly I'm ok. And I'm not obsessed either. Please remember that.

Uh......thanks...I think. Stalking is hunting down and hurting people. I don't want to hurt Lisa in any way. But uh...I suppose I'll take it as a compliment.
JWood201 04-30-2002, 06:21 PM Grr...I'm so jealous of all you people that are gonna get to meet her! She was literally half an hour away from my house when she was in Philly for a week, but didn't make any appearances!
Even my mom was like, "Aw, we could have gone to meet her" (which totally surprised me! this is the same woman who I had to force to meet her fave soap stars...when they were right in our mall. lol.)
**sigh** Maybe she'll come back -- I doubt it though. Now I'm all depressed. lol.
ABlairican Pie 04-30-2002, 09:36 PM I did NOT meet Lisa 3 times!! More like...
I lost count!!!!:D (Many times as the Time Lord in L.A. 15 years ago, which she's forgotten, and twice in Bellingham, last summer, one Sunday last August two weeks after that, and in Eugene over a week ago.)
I'm on a roll.
Don't ya just HATE me??

Not obsessed? I'm proud to be obsessed with Char!:) LOL..I THOUGHT I found her phone number....now THAT is almost stalking...lol...I wasn't going to like hunt her down or anything.....just call her....lol!Anyway, what's the big deal about dinner with Lisa?I mean, there will be like a MILLION other people there and lisa's speaking....no biggie(yea, right, that's like saying the eiffel tower is no biggie...or as Blair once said, "That's like saying the eiffel tower is slightly tall!")

ABlairican Pie 04-30-2002, 10:08 PM Uh--we're talking about LISA here. I had lunch with her...Kinda sorta on April 20. Okay, so she was clear across the room from me.
Oh yeah, I had snacks with her up in Bellingham and cinnamon
rolls for breakfast with her in Bellevue. Yes, it WAS a big deal.
We'll forgive you.

My mom said if I act up around her she won't take me. And she's sitting 6 feet away from me. But when I'm alone, OMG! I'm running around screaming!
And Michelle, I'll try! I will if I can even managed to speak to her, lol.

Thanks. If you can't, I'll understand.
ABlairican Pie 05-05-2002, 04:28 PM Okay, so what happened that afternoon was that Lisa had a special session where she basically answered people's questions,
and it was really funny and informative. BUT--when I raised my hand, she told me that she didn't want to answer my questions now until later by her table, because my questions were too "philosophical"...
Apparently she had the idea that when I asked questions before last summer, I got really into it and sounded too "deep"...SO DOES LISA THINK I'M SOME KIND OF INTELLECTUAL IDIOT????:(     So afterward I got to ask my question about a friend's difficulty in believing in God (not my original question), and she still thought it was too "intellectual"...HUH????
but she answered me, and it was a straightforward, decent answer, a very nice response. I don't know, I guess it just really caught her off-guard what I was asking, but she was very helpful.
So then I got a chance to do this with her:
ABlairican Pie 05-05-2002, 04:29 PM If you haven't seen this before, here is what I got to do with her:
ABlairican Pie 05-05-2002, 04:33 PM Okay, why does it look like Lisa has GREEN MOSS covering her??

Well, there was my super weekend of April 20th. I was on such a high for the rest of the weekend, such a great experience.

Uh.......what the hell does "intellectual" mean?
KarenTj24 05-06-2002, 12:30 PM Hey Tad, could you try to look a little happier next time you get your picture taken with Lisa ?! Just kidding, of course! :D
ABlairican Pie 05-06-2002, 09:43 PM To Karen, yes, I was soooooooo miserable and it shows....:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
Gee, Karli, the smartest girl in your school and you DON'T know the meaning of the word "intellectual"?? It means HAVING TO DO WITH REASONING, A HIGH LEVEL OF INTELLIGENCE, in other words, A SOOPER SOOPER SMART GUY. A NERD WHO READS BOOKS 'N' STUFF.
BTW, didja know that Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and other dictators killed off intellectuals in their campaigns of terror? They shore did.
Yep. They were too smart. They out-thunk everybody else and were too "dangerous".
ABlairican Pie 05-06-2002, 09:44 PM I mean, the INTELLECTUALS were considered too dangerous. Duh.
