Cindy Stowell died on December 5 2016, just about a week before her shows would begin to air. The shows were taped back starting Aug. 31 2016.

Cindy was dying of four-stage colon cancer while taping her shows. She wanted all of her winnings to be donated to cancer research. Her 6-day winning streak would have allowed her to compete in " Jeopardy's Tournament of Champions"

Here is her story in her own words: (IT IS WORTH WATCHING, EVEN IF YOUR NOT A FAN)

I watch Jeopardy regularly and even passed the test (chose not to at the time since I would have had to pay my way). I was saddened when I read about her last week and am glad she earned so much, because she donated them to cancer research.

She had spunk! I am so glad she could be on the show and to win too. Alex Trebek has so much class in having a little message about her death.

I'm not a big fan of Jeopardy! like I am Wheel of Fortune but I did watch Cindy on J! all six days.

She was such a joy to watch. I kept rooting for her to win all the time not knowing about her illness. My deepest sympathy goes to all her family and friends. Cindy was such an intelligent young lady and I'm sure she will greatly be missed by many. May she rest in peace.

OH Nuts!
