It's concerning one of the Sergio Leoni Spaghetti westerns, and there are SPOILERS HERE in case you have not seen them.
My question is about For a Few Dollars More. the 2nd of the 3 Eastwood westerns with Leoni, and considered by many, including myself, to be the best of the 3 by far. Even over The Good The Bad and the Ugly, although they are all so well made.
At the end of the movie, after Colonel Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) SPOILER.....kills El Indio, (Gian Maria Volonte) only after Eastwood stops Indio from killing Mortimer and there by making it a affair fight, Mortimer says to Manco (Clint Eastwood) It looks like your a rich man, referring to all the dead outlaws they killed that had heavy prices on their heads. But Manco says, you mean we're rich, old man. Mortimer shakes his head and says not me, basically letting Manco turn in all the dead bodies and collect all the money for himself.
Mortimer made it seem throughout the movie that he was only interested in the money being offered on the outlaws, as he was a bounty killer like Manco was. In the end, he (Mortimer) revealed that Indio was responsible for the death of his sister. My question is this. Did Mortimer let Manco collect all the money because Manco saved his life? Or was Mortimer just interested in killing Indio only and not the money, or maybe both? As many times as I have seen this movie, that question always crossed my mind.
