Fans of the popular series Corner Gas will be over the moon to learn that the iconic Canadian smash-hit is coming back as a new animated series next year on The Comedy Network.

The all-new 13-episode, half-hour animated series of Corner Gas will be produced by 335 Productions and Vérité Films, with executive producers Brent Butt, David Storey and Virginia Thompson in association with The Comedy Network.

Pre-production will begin in January 2017 in Vancouver and Toronto, with the main cast confirmed to return. Producers also confirmed that beloved character Emma will live on in the new animated world with the blessing of the late Janet Wright’s family.

Here’s a closer look at the cast:

Brent (Brent Butt), Lacey (Gabrielle Miller), Oscar (Eric Peterson), Hank (Fred Ewanuick), Davis (Lorne Cardinal), Karen (Tara Spencer-Nairn), and Wanda (Nancy Robertson) are all getting a cartoon makeover as the main cast returns to Dog River for Corner Gas. Casting for the voice of Emma is currently underway.

The series will be broadcast on The Comedy Network as part of the network’s 2017-2018 season.

Corner Gas was one of the few tv shows I watched regularly in the last ten years. Along with Sopranos and Breaking Bad. It was shown on late night tv WGN and I got hooked on it and probably watched every episode 3 or 4 times on YouTube since then. I hope they don't politicize the new cartoon series too much in order to try to please the entertainment lib establishment, which like in the US is probably pretty much to the left in Canada as well.
