Yes, and Ann didn't adopt Alex. She only kept him for the school semester. And I do remember about the Newhart finale and you are right. The Japenese wanted to turn the town into a golf course.

Bradley, no offense, I have always wondered why do you dislike Julie (Blah) so much? Yes, she is a very polarizing character and can be such a pain in the butt but would you say that at the very least that Mackenzie Phillips was a good actress, despite her many personal problems?

The show was always better with the two sisters to play off each other. The two are such a good friends in real life, were both able to survive a lot of drama in their personal lives to emerge strong and successful in their fifties.

I wish the reboot had focused on their characters as they are right now. Who is to say that One Day At a Time has to be about a young single mom and her kids?

Why couldn't the updated show be about the struggle of older ladies ala The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland with their careers, kids, grandchildren, husbands, ex husbands and so on? This new show looks good on its own it doesn't need the old title to sell it in my humble opinion.

Do you all think Val and Mack would have signed on if they approached them to do the reboot as the leads?

I wish the reboot had focused on their characters as they are right now. Who is to say that One Day At a Time has to be about a young single mom and her kids?

Gary, we are so in synch today.

I have said this before and I will say it again.

Barbara's advertising ideas were pretty good even though she had no actual experience. How did Ann get successful anyway? Can anybody name a campaign that she had that they thought was exceptional? The ice cream thing was okay but she needed Nick to get it to work.

Which brings me back to Francine. She was the brains behind Romano and Webster. She knew how to get the clients to accept whatever dreck Ann came up with.

I thought it was funny how the writers of the show poked fun at Ann and her hackneyed ideas. They were frequently mocked by one or two of the characters who had to hear them. :lol:

She's the one who used to watch the one day at a time show with me. She had all the episodes on VHS but she accident sell them at garage sale after my grandpa die. She cry a lot. About the lost shows, not so much about my grandpa they never rely got a long

I am more of a Barbara/Valerie fan than a Julie/Mackenzie fan. I think Barbara was a much more bubbly/fun character and I enjoy her role on the show much more than Julie. Also later on when Mackenzie got heavily involved in drugs and missed many shows and when she didn't she just didn't seem right when I watched those episodes around that time of Mackenzie's life. I am glad Mackenzie has gotten her life together, but Valerie seems to have accomplished more in her career.
