which arose back in 2005, seems to have inspired many threads here back in 2005-2008. I thought that I would provide an update here, as it looks like the old threads are locked.
Update? UPDATE? Yes, as the word implies, the case is not quite over. After a couple of years of losing litigation, the judge finally had a momentary onset of common sense and refrained from appealing the case of his missing pants to the US Supreme Court. Alas, this final restraint was not able to save his job as an administrative law judge, and he was not renewed when his term ended.
The disciplinary committee of the District of Columbia Bar then went to work, and in May of 2015 (yes, 2015) issued a bill of three ethical charges against the judge for his conduct in prosecution of the case. A hearing was held before the committee in November, and a decision should be forthcoming...sometime. The latest:
