There will be no wedding bliss chapter for Bill and Virginia. I’ve learned that Showtime has opted not to pick up a fifth season of "Masters of Sex" starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of human sexuality William Masters and Virginia Johnson.

The news comes two weeks after Season 4 of the period drama ended its run on the network. Showtime declined comment.

Former Masters of Sex co-stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan will reunite to promote their current shows to Emmy voters (https://variety.com/2020/tv/awards/emmys-prodigal-son-castle-rock-michael-sheen-lizzy-caplan-1203509698/)

Warner Bros. TV found a unique way to kick off Emmy campaign season. Since Sheen's Fox drama Prodigal Son and Caplan's Hulu series Castle Rock are both Warner Bros. TV shows, the studio got the idea to create a For Your Consideration event on Feb. 29 featuring a Masters of Sex reunion for the Showtime series.
