In 1983, The Nashville Network was started. What started as a 6-Hour block repeated 4 times a day grew to be a phenomenon. Game Shows were a big part of it, notably with Fandango. In 1989, Fandango would be axed after a long 6 years on the air and in its place would be a show that took the best of Gambit, tweaked it enough to play like a much different game and turned it into a better version of Gambit with a host that replaced the host of Gambit on Tic Tac Dough. My mom and I used to watch Top Card when Mom used to watch TNN's country music video morning show when I would get ready for school and I thought Top Card was pretty neat because it had questions about many different things. And a surprising fact about Top Card is that during one of the seasons Top Card changed hosts and that the dealer Blake Pickett was also on the game show Fandango too. I seem to think that GSN got the inspiration for Catch 21 from Top Card because Top Card was so cool to watch

I noticed something about Top Card that makes me curious that I think Top Card did that they shared with Family Feud. When a contestant buzzes in to answer a question the dinging buzzer cue seemed to come from Family Feud which makes me wonder if Top Card and Family Feud shared the exact same sound effects when it came out
Was it normal for game shows to share sound effects at the time?
