David Bowie, Nirvana, Prince Songs to be Inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame

Iconic songs from Nirvana, David Bowie, Prince, R.E.M., Elvis Presley, and more are among the 25 recordings that will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame’s class of 2017.

“The Grammy Hall Of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Academy has become renowned,” said The Recording Academy president and CEO Neil Portnow in a statement. “Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social and cultural history.”

The honor recognizes recordings that are at least 25 years old. Here are the 25 inductees for 2017:

Wow, I never knew they inducted SONGS into the Grammy Hall Of Fame!

But that should make sense, because many songs that are classics in the rock and pop lexicon existed before the dominance of record albums.
