The Brady Bunch is one of the most iconic American sitcoms. It ran for five seasons from 1969 to 1974 and, even though it was cancelled over 40 years ago, because of syndication, it is more popular than ever. There is so much about the show that people don’t know, which is why we have collected 9 interesting facts to help fix that:
One of the facts says that when the casting for the 6 Brady children was underway, there were 3 blond boys and 3 brunette boys all being considered, and likewise there were 3 blond girls and 3 brunette girls all being considered, but eventually 3 brunette boys and 3 blond girls were cast, and that "Somewhere out there there are 6 people ranging in age from (approximately)
their late 40s to their late 50s who could have been cast as the Brady children," which is a very interesting perspective.
Actually more kids had auditioned for the parts than the rejected blond boys and brunette girls, but these six rejected would-be actors were the ones who came closest to being chosen. It would be interesting if those people who are out there somewhere, would come forward and post here on Sitcomsonline.com and tell their story.
Of course it has been well over 45 years since that casting call for the Brady Bunch, who knows what became of the kids who tried for the parts of Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy? Some may have gone on to other show business endeavors such as working behind the camera, or writing scripts , or being a talent agent , etc. Some may have just ended up just quitting on trying to get into show business and went to college and became lawyers, doctors, actuaries, or for the females who tried for the part of the Brady daughters, they might just have gotten married and become housewives as was still typical for young females of the late 1960s. (It would be interesting since on another TV Sitcom, "The Monkees," singer-songwriter Paul Williams famously auditioned for a part as one of the 4 Monkees, but did not get chosen. He still went on to have a successful career in music. Also musician, Stephen Stills and Danny Hutton of "Three Dog Night"auditioned for The Monkees but were not chosen).
But also, Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby Brady, was reportedly a natural blond but his hair was dyed brown for the part and that sometimes the hot lights on the set would make the hair-coloring run down his face. That is why later on, after the original Brady Bunch sitcom went off the air, Mike Lookinland was seen in the "spinoff" shows as not only being blond, but having curly hair. I wonder why this fact was not posted.
Furthermore, Brian Forster made an appearance on The Brady Bunch in the episode "EENIE MEENIE, MOMMY DADDY. " This was shortly before he went on to replace Jeremy Gelbwalks as the drummer in The Partridge Family.
