Leon Russell died on Nov. 13, 2016 in Nashville at the age of 74. His wife said that he passed away in his sleep.

The Master Of Space And Time was a legendary musician and songwriter originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma who performed his gospel-infused southern boogie piano rock, blues, and country music for over 50 years.

Leon was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2011.

Leon led the famous Joe Cocker's ‘Mad Dogs & Englishmen’ tour and performed with George Harrison and Friends at the Concert For Bangladesh. Leon has also toured with Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, Edgar Winter, The New Grass Revival, Willie Nelson, and Sir Elton John.

Leon's songwriting credits include 'A Song For You', ‘Delta Lady’, ‘Hummingbird’, ‘Lady Blue’, ‘Back To The Island’, ‘Tight Rope’, and ‘This Masquerade’.

"Lady Blue" was a favorite AM radio hit of mine during the autumn months of 1975. The song peaked at #5 on the charts of WCFL-AM in Chicago during early November that year. As 1975 was coming to a close, WCFL was not going to be a top 40 station for much longer as they would soon have a format change.

R.I.P. Leon Russell.

Russell wrote "This Masquerade" which got moderate airplay by The Carpenters and George Benson.

This is the worst year for rock music...so many musicians are dead and I'm sure there'll be more...

2016...the year the music died...ohno:ohno:ohno:

I listened to Leon Russell's song Lady Blue on a cd my aunt gave me of 70's songs and it is such a cool ballad and I had never heard of Leon Russell before and I thought what a cool voice he had. It's such a surprise that in male singers today you won't find another Leon Russell and I think due to his death Leon Russell's songs will become popular and have a lot of singers do covers of Leon Russell's songs
