The Goldberg's creator Adam F. Goldberg's love for nostalgia can't be contained to just one decade.

ABC is developing a potential spin-off of its hit comedy The Goldbergs, TVGuide.com has confirmed. While The Goldbergs is famously set in "1980-something," the new spin-off would be set during the era of pastel colors, parachute pants and bleached tips, the 1990s. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/goldbergs-spinoff-set-1990s-works-at-abc-945186).

Though early in the stages of development, the untitled series would star The Goldbergs' Bryan Callen (he plays the hilarious gym teacher Rick Mellor) as one of two high school teachers who develop an unlikely relationship with the school secretary's three misfit kids. ABC would not comment on whether Callen would be playing the same character or not.

Spin-offs of reliable brands appear to be a hot trend for networks. NBC is prepping a spin-off of The Blacklist, and CBS just announced plans for a Big Bang Theory prequel focusing on a young Sheldon (Jim Parsons).
