Chocoholic 04-26-2002, 07:02 PM How tragic! My heart and prayers go out to all the victims and their loved ones. Why do people have to intentionally harm and murder others, why? Beruche 04-26-2002, 07:05 PM Thats sad :( but it doesn't surprise me. Originally posted by WingsFan Why do people have to intentionally harm and murder others, why? That's aweful. This is very sad. I wonder what rock band the media will try'n blame this time...... Kay Scarpetta 04-27-2002, 12:30 PM It's just horrible :crying: Czas na Zywiec 04-27-2002, 12:46 PM -sigh- There's really nothing you can do. They were educated the wrong way and this is how they have to take it out. I agree education ids the only way, but as long as there is TV and radio and other sorts of media, violence will occur. :( *And for the record, I'm not blaming any kind of music. I'm just saying as long as there are violent movies and video games and basically any type of media, someone will try it. Not everyone, but you just never know about some people. I disagree with your last statement on so many levels! If someone is gonna go out and murder another human being for no reason whatsoever then he/she is seriously messed-up in the head. No movie/video game/song is gonna just put that idea into their head. Noone just listens to a record and thinks "Hey, great idea - I'm gonna go kill someone!!!!" How many people have blamed Marilyn Manson for numerous violent incidents over the course of his career? I'll tell you - hundreds. I have listened to Marilyn Manson since the beginning and not once have I ever felt the urge to kill someone because of anything I heard in his music! Guns N Roses Black Sabbath P.O.D. Linkin Park Marilyn Manson Iron Maiden Each and every one of these band has been accused of influencing the youth in a negative way. And I have grown up listening to each and every one of these bands and not once have I ever commited a crime because of something I heard in their songs. You cannot blame bands for the violence. You cannot blame video games. You cannot blame movies. Every time you put the blame on one of these things you are just avoiding the real issue at hand. And that is what is wrong with your country! Stop avoiding the issue. Stop putting the blame on something else and deal with the problem!!!!!!!!! julian bozo 04-27-2002, 05:36 PM I agree with Eric Matthews & Mossopp I'm on the fence on this issue. Eric is right as long as there is lots of violence on tv & in movies there will be a increase in violent crime. Mossopp is right As people listen to various types of music, A song can not make someone go out & kill someone. If those boys in Colombine had listened to Garth Brooks they would be blaming him. Just for the record I don't have anything against marlyin Manson or garth Brooks. I just feel you can't blame musicians or songs. Also on Eric 's side when those stupid power Rangers came out a few years ago, two 6 year old boys kicked another kid in the stomach because they were imitading the Power Rangers it killed the little child. Liza 04-28-2002, 03:38 PM I'm very sorry to hear about this, especially since I've been to the city it happened in. It's a beautiful and modern German city, I had a great time when I was there - it's so sad to think that this could happen to them. DarleneIllyria 04-28-2002, 06:04 PM Lets take Columbine for example- the news about those boys were all over the tv and newspapers. It's usually the people that see this and think, "Dude, if we want to be famous- all we have to do is shoot up the school." Maybe instead of blaming music and movies and stuff just blame the news people that cram it into peoples minds to get instant success. Hope this post made sense. |
