I assume the exterior scenes of the courthouse were filmed on the Desilu backlot whereas the scenes inside of the courthouse were filmed on a soundstage elsewhere. Is that correct?

By the way, The Haunted House episode was the inspiration for the film The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Yes, that's the way I understand it to be.. Incidentally, it's interesting to notice how the scenery scape used as an outdoor backdrop through the windows changes from year to year.
In particular the window nearest Andy's desk, the one that would face the sidestreet, some episodes include trees that are not there in real outdoor shots.

And, of course with Floyd's barbershop right next door in the outdoor scenes, it's curious how Ben Weaver could access the window in Cell #1 for the christmas episode. And then there was the cousin Virgil episode where Otis got trapped in his cell, and Barney used the squadcar to pull the bars out of the cell window, from the outside

Particular to the Haunted House, I have a question for anyone willing to give it a shot. The painting hanging on the wall next to the secret door, is that supposed to be a depiction of "The Sermon on the Mount"?

I've thought about the size of Floyd's Barber Shop for a long time (and I'm watching the season 7 episode where the shop goes up for sale right now) and I tend to think that the shop is really small, with a back area (I remember Floyd mentions a garden back there once), while the Courthouse is larger and goes back farther in back.

This would explain how the windows of the jail cells look out into an open area.
