This tv special will air in a few weeks. Any guesses as to which tv shows will make the list? What will be number one?

I know the top 3:
1. Seinfeld
2. I Love Lucy
3. The Honeymooners

I know the Sopranos, Simpsons, All in the Family, Andy Griffith Show also are in the top 10.

I don't agree at all with number 1.

I suspect that Cheers will be in there somewhere, or I hope it will be in there.

Here's the complete list. Like most of their lists, it kinda stinks.

Seinfeld at number 1? Please tell me somebody is joking or something. I only agree with 3 shows that are on that list.

All in the Family-

The Andy Griffith Show-

The Twilight Zone

I understand why they would put Seinfeld at number one. But I was a little disappointed that Mary Tyler Moore wasn't higher than number eleven, and how did Buffy the Vampire Slayer end up on the list?

With the exception of a couple of shows, I think their list stinks, as usual. I never pay attention to TV Guide. I can't even remember the last time I bought an issue, let alone read any of the articles.

That's what I'd like to know. I can think of 50 shows better than that one.

I agree. The list really stinks. I can't believe that The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, or The Golden Girls didn't make it in the Top 50. And Seinfield at No. #1? Pull-eeeeeeeze! I Love Lucy is actually the one that should be #1 not Seinfield. Oh well . . .

OMG I totally agree that I Love Lucy should be #1! I mean Seinfeld??? Did anyone see their serie finale? Come on! An Buffy got on that list how? The Golden Girls or Facts of Life should have at least be on there. Even Different Strokes. Those people stink!

What is David Letterman doing at #7? Come on! And where's "Three's Company"? That's better than "Seinfeld" any day! And, "I Love Lucy" should have been at the top, no doubt about it.

I believe these shows were selected more for their influence on the TV history than popularity.

However, while i do agree with some selections, I do not see how shows like "Thirtysomething," "Rockford Files," or "Buffy" have greatly changed the TV landscape.

Also, If you are going to pick one Star Trek series on the list, it should have been the original series. The Star Trek universe would have never exsisted if it weren't for that show.

I wish someone would tell me why Letterman was more influential than Carson.

I think TV Guide is going for a mix of influential and critically acclaimed, which is why you don't see shows like "Three's Company" on there. As far as Letterman being higher than Carson: Carson's show was much more traditional, while Letterman broke ground by satirizing the traditional talk show format. Conan, Craig Kilborn, and even Leno's shows all have been greatly influenced by Letterman.
