View Full Version : What's one of your favorite shows and why do you like it?
liane60 10-16-2016, 03:48 PM Chicago Med It's not a stupid comedy, although I do like some comedies. Not all doc. jump in bed with each other even though some do. It has interesting cases. The patients and parents don't always agree with the doc. which makes it interesting.
bmasters9 10-20-2016, 01:42 PM Hart to Hart, because, among other things, Jonathan and Jennifer Hart were happily married and madly in love.
Supernatural is my favorite. Two brothers fighting demons, rogue angels and pretty much anything bad that comes along. It has both drama and humor and a great cast of characters.
Patty Duke 10-22-2016, 09:21 AM The Walton's because it was about a family that loved each other in a simpler time. It was before everything was PC, before video games and before everyone had their face glued to a cell phone texting 24/7.....even while driving. Drug abuse was rare, today there are more than 24.7 million abusers of Meth worldwide. Kids were taught to have respect for others and manners. It was a time when meals were made from scratch, they were nutritious and not a frozen or boxed convenience meal. Family sat at the table and shared meals together. They worked hard for what they had and stood on their own two feet without government handouts even during the depression. It was a time when things were built to last unlike today, we are now the throw away society. They could work on their automobiles, today you need a computer. I think I was born in the wrong time.
Becca3557 10-22-2016, 01:59 PM I enjoy many, but Andy Griffith is my favorite. Yes, I can recite practically every line in every show. ;) It's my "comfort show". The humor is gentle and people treat each other with respect. They go out of their way not to hurt each other. When I see them "setting on the porch" on a Sunday after supper, it's a nostalgia trip for me to the days when life was much less hectic. You can't go back again and I really wouldn't want to, but it's a nice visit.
GingerPopTart 10-22-2016, 02:14 PM Kate & Allie, it has a bit of everything it in. There is the comedy of course as well as the serious storylines and the great characters.
danderson400 10-22-2016, 04:10 PM St. Elsewhere. was the precursor to ER.
China Beach. set at an evacuation hospital during the Vietnam War. was first show to deal with Vietnam.
danderson400 10-22-2016, 04:14 PM China Beach, like St. Elsewhere, had low ratings but was a critical hit.

I loved the Waltons too. reminded me of the depression.
One Day at a Time, for introducing me to Valerie Bertinelli.

That is so true!!!
Nordy 10-22-2016, 05:34 PM Other than Opus' post that is 100% correct about Valerie Bertinelli. My show is Gilmore Girls. I know its supposed to be a "chick show" but the fast paced dialogue, the zany characters, the ton of pop culture references, plus my eye candy of Lauren Graham is enough for me to put it on my top of my favorite shows.
Bonniegirl 10-22-2016, 06:17 PM One Day at a Time, for introducing me to Valerie Bertinelli.
One day at a time as well!;) But for me it's because I was introduced to Michael Lembeck!
And CHIPS,because it introduced me to Erik Estrada ;) ;)
Also Leave it to Beaver! Because it's a sweet, funny comfort show !:) Same with The Flintstones,Brady Bunch , Petticoat Junction and Green Acres ( and GA is hilarious, off the wall , rolling on the floor laughing comedy  , also the Flintstones has that affect on me too! :D
GingerPopTart 10-22-2016, 08:49 PM 21 Jump Street for really giving Johnny Depp his first major role and making him have big exposure.
Bonniegirl 10-22-2016, 08:58 PM Along with shows I listed in my last post, I love Lucy and The Lucy show! :)
Good comfort shows and good memories of my childhood. My Mom was a big Lucy fan, she got me into watching I love Lucy! ;)

Thank You, most of the time when I catch an episode it is on television. It would be great to start getting the seasons on DVD.
Nordy 10-22-2016, 09:39 PM Hi GingerPopTart   I'm Nordy the biggest Gilmore Girls fan on here!! (also #2 Valerie Bertinelli lover)
GingerPopTart 10-23-2016, 07:38 PM Hi Nordy, I will be one of what is probably many Red Heads here joining the late great Lucille Ball. :) The Gilmore Girls is a fantastic show and I wish Alexis Bledel would get back on T.V. doing something. I loved Valerie Bertanelli in her most recent show Hot In Cleveland.

Well Alexis does guest spots here and there. She's busy being a mommy now so I bet that takes most of her time. Hot In Cleveland is in my favorite show group but a couple more have that distinction...lol

No doubt being a mommy takes up a lot of Alexis' time. She is such a great talent and quite beautiful as well.
Nordy 10-23-2016, 08:35 PM This is my favorite picture of her.

The only reason I watched that show. I was wondering how she was going to be post Gilmore Girls. I was impressed.

Rookielove 10-25-2016, 03:20 PM Blackish --- the show is funny and warm. Anthony Anderson and Tracy Ellis Ross make a great team and the kids are adorable.
HM:
Lincoln Heights -- I love the Suttons....such a great family. The storylines and the characters really pull you in. And Charles and Cassie make such a beautiful couple.
Mace Dolex 10-25-2016, 03:37 PM Three's Company - all around goofy fun that takes your mind off your problems and of course the genius of the late John Ritter.
Torgo 10-25-2016, 05:41 PM Stranger Things Great blend of scifi, horror, mystery, and coming of age. Set in the 80's, so has great nostalgic appeal for me, especially the main kids playing Dungeons & Dragons. Wynona Ryder is fantastic as a distraught mother trying to find out what happened to her missing son.

Amazon has all the seasons of I Love Lucy individually, but there is also a condensed lot release (all of it) from CBS DVD which I think you might like:

Crusinforabrusin 01-07-2017, 01:02 PM Cheers- Atmosphere is one of the things that I love about this show. Do I like bars? No. But the characters make me want to be apart of their group. That's what makes a show great from my perspective.
