I just found out Julia Benjamin (who played Susie Baxter in season 5) has a book out called "Susie...Ain't She A Doozie? My "Hazel" Days and Beyond".
I've only read some of the preview pages on Amazon, but it has possibly the most information I've seen about Hazel, from someone involved with the show. She tells about spending plenty of time with Shirley Booth, who seems to have been really sweet to her.
And there's an especially fun story about the time she and Bobby Buntrock ended up getting cussed out by Jerry Lewis on the set of "Three on A Couch", and Bobby stood up to him. And there are also stories from when Julia and Bobby were on the set of Bewitched.
She also discusses how Bobby died, but that wasn't part of my Amazon preview. And she says she kept in contact with Lynn Borden, but had no idea she had pancreatic cancer until reading her obituary. And Lynn's husband ended up giving her a few keepsakes afterwards.
And she talked to Shirley Booth many years after Hazel ended, and Shirley had gone blind at that point. She had tracks installed to get around in a special chair, and she didn't want visitors.
If I end up buying the book, I'll be sure to share a few more details here.
Here's the Amazon listing if anyone else is interested:
