View Full Version : The Best Character in TV History
LucyFan 10-27-2001, 04:48 PM In my opinion, The absolute Best Character in TV History is Lucy Ricardo. The reason I pick her is because she's funny, clever, outwitting, smart, scheming and plain out makes the show fun and of the fact that she serves as a role model for both future and past characters that are beyond her time.
Now it's your turn, who do you think is the Best Character in TV History?

Tim McGraw

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?
Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.
Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.
Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.
[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]
Dale Midkiff is my man! :)
factsoflife 10-28-2001, 12:01 AM Well ,for me a GREAT character is one that is well defined, protrayed by a great actor/actress and has depth and is not just a one demsisonal creation, and it is hard to pick just one so i nominate the following characters as the best in TV history:
Mary Richards- The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Dorothy Spornak- The Golden Girls
Geogre Jefferson- The Jeffersons
Alex P. Keaton- Family Ties
Lucy Ricardo- I Love Lucy

DJM77 10-28-2001, 12:46 AM Archie Bunker
Jimbo 10-28-2001, 11:45 AM It would be tough to argue against Lucy Ricardo as the "Best Sitcom Character of All Time". Others who should be given consideration for this honor (in my humble opinion), in no particular order, include the following:
Phil Silvers as "Sgt. Ernie Bilko"
Jackie Gleason as "Ralph Kramden"
Dick Van Dyke as "Rob Petrie"
Fred Gynne as "Herman Munster"
Elizabeth Montgomery as "Samatha Stevens"
Henry Winkler as "Fonzie"
Mary Tyler Moore as "Mary Richards"
Redd Foxx as "Fred Sanford"
Howard Hessmann as "Dr. Johnny Fever"
Christopher Lloyd as "Rev. Jim Ignatowski"
Ed O'Neill as "Al Bundy"
Tim Allen as "Tim The Tool Man Taylor"

dawsongirl 12-08-2001, 12:28 AM I've looked over all my favorite sitcoms and dramas, and my vote goes to Buz Murdock from Route 66. He's got more layers than a 7 layer cake. One minute he's a tough guy, the next minute he's an angel. A character with a real story behind them. I like Tod, but Buz was the better character. The show suffered without him.
