Brooke Shields is Returning to "The Middle" This Season

Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a pretty chill mom; she has more patience with her husband and three… let’s say, “unique” children than most TV moms do.
But if there’s one thing that can easily set Frankie off, it’s Rita Glossner, her neighbor and nemesis. Well, Frankie should start doing yoga or deep-breathing now, because Rita is coming back in season 8.
EW has exclusively learned that Brooke Shields will be returning as the character in an upcoming episode. The mullet-donning, cigarette-smoking, tattooed foe hasn’t been on the show since last year’s Halloween episode — when Frankie and Sue (Eden Sher) attempted to egg her house — and this will mark her fifth appearance on the show since first appearing in 2010.
We’re told the episode, which will air later this year, sees Frankie and Rita go on a road trip together. And we can only imagine how much Frankie will lose her cool in that enclosed environment.
Season 8 premieres on Oct. 11th.
