It is not a secret that TV is in a golden age. As films move toward more episodic adventures where the stakes are low and only seem there to set up further installments (ahem, Marvel) movies are beginning to look like very expensive TV show episodes that take 3 years to produce. So, as the style of storytelling changes on the big screen, so has the small screen. TV shows, mini-series, and event films have begun to steal away a lot of the prestige, daring, and original stories that used to exist only in the cinemaplex. So here, we will look at 15 shows that’ll save you that $20 movie ticket and give you a better conversation for the water cooler the next day.

I have no desire to watch any of that.

No thank you. I'd rather watch "I Love Lucy" reruns.

These look awful. And the golden era of television is long gone IMO - although there are still many quality shows.

No thank you. I'd rather watch "I Love Lucy" reruns.

Or, for me, M Squad, The Bob Newhart Show, Hart to Hart, Barney Miller or Perry Mason on DVD, among others.

Totally agree... I don't even watch live TV since most of it is reality ****!

What bothers me is they (executives) think everything "good" now must be on HBO or Netflix so it can be "edgy". They think all "good" TV must be "edgy" so people will watch.

No thank you. I (and many others) still like good clean TV. You can keep your Netflix and HBO original crapola.

I'm with you guys. I don't have Netflix but it doesn't look like I'd get it based on these shows. None of them interest me.

I'll check out some of those. Busy watching House of Cards right now.
