Was this really used as The Ropers opening theme at one point?

It sounds so similar to the Three's Company closing theme and it doesn't sound anything like the other opening theme to The Ropers.

You're right. That sounds nothing like The Ropers' theme. Maybe it's from the rarely syndicated title, Three's Company's Friends: The Ropers.

I ended up thinking that maybe that was the case. The only explanation that I could find online was on YouTube by someone named Mr. Oscar Bradley II. It's a little confusing to me, but here's what he said about it...
"Notice this theme song for The Ropers and the theme for Three's Company (TV Theme). Since the Ropers came out in 1979-1980. This Three's Company Instrumental Cut Theme had to be a theme song test for Three's Company Seasons 6 - 8 before the Ropers had their own theme while Three's Company was still in Season 3 going into Season 4 (1979-1980). Then the theme was later used in 1981 and 1982, then again in pieces of season 7 in 1983 then again used in 1984. Then there was Three's A Crowd with the title was named Three's Company Too and using the Three's Company theme with the lyrics saying 'His and hers and His' instead of 'Hers and Hers and His'. Due to Three's A Crowd being revolved around Jack Tripper, Vicky Bradford and James Bradford."

It's the syndicated theme for the pilot episode and episode when Jack and the girls visit the Ropers
