Aug. 31, 2016

Eleven lives! Netflix has renewed its breakout summer hit "Stranger Things" for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter first reported.

The '80s-set sci-fi series will return for nine episodes in 2017, one more episode than Season 1.

Netflix shared a video with the titles of the Season 2 episodes, including "Madmax," "The Boy Who Came Back to Life," and "The Lost Brother." The video also confirmed that Season 2 will be set in Fall 1984.

Creators the Duffer Brothers will continue to executive-produce. No official word yet on who from the cast will return, though Shannon Purser, who played Barb on Season 1, is probably out, as she was just cast in the CW drama "Riverdale".

The Duffer Brothers shared some details about Season 2 with EW, saying that the core cast will return with the addition of four new characters. The mystery of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) will remain unresolved at the beginning of the season, according to Ross Duffer, who says they leave what happened to the psychic child when she went back into the Upside Down "up in the air."

If you have Netflix, watch it. One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. It's like Spielberg meets Stephen King, some of it was definitely inspired by Firestarter.

Great show! If Millie Brown, the girl who plays Eleven, doesn't win an emmy for that performance I will personally banish the academy to the upside down!

I gotta say, I found Stranger Things very overrated, and I don't understand the point behind a second season.

There's some IT influence in there as well. The series was created because they didn't get the IT remake. Stranger Things is pretty much a tribute to Stephen King.

"Stranger Things" Renewed for Season 3
by Liam Mathews
Dec 1, 2017

"Stranger Things" Season 3 is officially a go.

Netflix confirmed the renewal for what's probably one of the most popular shows on TV (we don't know for sure, since Netflix doesn't release ratings) on Friday with a post to Twitter that said, "FOR THE LOVE OF STEVE, DUH! So hold tight baby darts — season 3 is officially happening."

Stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Cara Buono, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery and Sadie Sink are all confirmed to return for Season 3.

Not yet confirmed are Season 2 actors Paul Reiser as Dr. Owens or Linnea Berthelson as Kali/Eight, though creators the Duffer Brothers did say that "chances are high" that Kali will be back.

No return date or episode count has been set for Season 3.
