The topic here are shows that were cancelled after one season or less and shows that seemed to go on forever that you hated. I think the second part is more important back when there were a limited number of channels so a show taking up a timeslot was far more painful.

When Things Were Rotten had good potential but the networks never gave it a chance the same with Quark but some how Happy Days and Friends were allowed to go on and on.

I agree Police Squad should've lasted at least one season.

Dag is the best one season sitcom ever. I hate Scrubs, the show that replaced it, because it lasted for 8 seasons. Plus Scrubs is available on DVD, while I might never get to see Dag again. :(

The best one season show of all time is "Best of the West" from 1981.
DADS on Fox was HILARIOUS. I watched the pilot because I was bored and nothing else to watch, and I thought it would suck, and twenty minutes later, I was dying of laughter and could not wait until the second episode. Martin Mull and especially the other actor who played the other "dad" were amazing as well as the whole cast. The show stayed funny its entire run.
Unfortunately the "critics" hated it (jerks) and it was on FOX who cancels everything immediately except for The Simpsons which they cannot let go. The 'critics' said the show was low brow and crude. Ok....versus whatever else is on television now?
Animal Practice was a sitcom on NBC which could have been great but was killed midseason. I still remember some of the episodes, and the little monkey made that show. I wish it was given more of a chance. Oh well.
There are lots of shows that have been on for many years that I did not care for and basically too numerous to list.
