I was looking through interviews conducted with Mr. Albert- and came across this one:
http://www.grandtimes.com/eddie.html
I'll let everyone opt to read for yourselves said interview . However; one thing it mentioned that needs to be addressed is that, at the time of the interview in 1996 [when he was 90 but still let folks think he was 88!], Mr. Albert said he was working on his autiobiography!
Now, I realize that within the next few years, he would be stricken with the Alzheimer's that took away his memory but left his body incredibly strong until days before his death of pneumonia at 99 in 2005 so it's likely that he was unable to finish it (and his caretaker son Edward would himself die of lung cancer just a year later at age 55). However; Mr. Albert's surviving daughter Maria Albert Zucht HAD been his business manager in the last part of his career so I'm wondering if anyone might have heard whether SHE (or Edward's own surviving daughter Thais ) has any plans to try to have it finished and published?
I understand if Mrs. Zucht may have other projects of her own in the works but between Mr. Albert's very lengthy performing career, military service and ecological activism, etc. I think a very wide range of readers would be fascinated by as close to a firsthand account of his life as could now happen. Let's not forget that his one-time colleague Lucille Ball's unearthed bio was released quite a few years after HER death and became quite a big seller!
Anyway, since this is 'the place to be' re the show and all its performers, I'm wondering if anyone might have heard whether there's any plans to salvage, finish and update the late Mr. Albert's work-in-progress.
