Wendie Malick Signs Up for "American Housewife" — Exclusive

That’s three new jobs for Wendie Malick this fall — and the season hasn’t even started yet.

EW has learned exclusively that the erstwhile "Hot in Cleveland" star will pop up on ABC’s upcoming slice-of-life sitcom "American Housewife", playing — you guessed it — an American housewife. Or at least, her mother.



Malick will play Katie’s (Katy Mixon) distant mother, Kathryn, described as a less-than-perfect parent and a former flight attendant for Pan Am who, naturally, is “a touch narcissistic” and is a thorn in Katy’s side during the holidays.

Malick is just coming off the news of an appearance as Rob Kerkovich’s mother on CBS’s "NCIS: New Orleans" as well as a recurring stint on Fox’s baseball drama, "Pitch".



"American Housewife" comes from former "Spin City" EP Sarah Dunn and stars "Mike & Molly" alumna Mixon as a mother trying to raise her kids with decent values and ambitions in the increasingly trendy and judgmental atmosphere of their New England neighborhood.

The show premieres on Oct. 11 on ABC.
