Metallica has finally attached a name and release date to their long-gestating tenth studio album. According to the iconic metal band’s website, 'Hardwired… To Self-Destruct' will arrive Nov. 18.

The follow-up to 2008’s 'Death Magnetic' will span two discs and nearly 80 minutes of music. Metallica also debuted the title track, 'Hardwired', on Minneapolis’ 93X earlier today.

“Hardwired… represents the next phase of our journey as Metallica,” the band wrote.

Frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich produced the album with Greg Fidelman, who worked on Metallica’s 2011 collaborative album with Lou Reed, 'Lulu', and records by bands including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, and Slipknot.

I heard the "Hardwired" song for the first time yesterday, but is it a little strange for an album title to contain an ellipsis? (...)

It's not one of those cool album titles like "Ride the Lightning" or "Master Of Puppets". Oh wait--"...And Justice For All" contained an ellipsis.

Metallica Nabs 6th No. 1 Album on the Billboard 200
by Madeline Raynor

Looks like Metallica is hardwired to succeed. The band achieved their sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 Monday with their latest release 'Hardwired… to Self-Destruct'.

After the collection came out on Nov. 18, the record earned 291,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 24. This is Metallica’s first studio album since 'Death Magnetic' (2008). 'Hardwired' is the third-largest debut of 2016 behind Drake’s 'Views' (1.04 million units) and Beyonce’s 'Lemonade' (653,000 units).

It also sold more in its first week than any rock album in two and a half years, Billboard reports.
