View Full Version : Actors Who Were Fired from their Shows
icecream 08-17-2016, 01:06 AM With lead actor Thomas Gibson being fired from Criminal Minds last week for kicking a producer, who are other actors who were fired from their show?
sitcoms and dramas only, no reality
only actors who were series regulars at the time
Actors who left a show of their own choice do not count.
Bonniegirl 08-17-2016, 01:12 AM Mackenzie Phillips from One day at a time was let go a couple times for drug use. Cleaned up came back to the show, went back to the drugs and eventually was permanently fired!:(
Mr. Television 08-17-2016, 06:31 AM Valerie Harper from The Hogan Family.
BigManMike 08-17-2016, 06:56 AM Suzanne Somers from Three's Company
Charlie Sheen from Two and a Half Men
JamesG 08-17-2016, 01:07 PM Nicolette Sheridan on "Desperate Housewives" (there are still legal proceedings going on over this)
Columbus Short on "Scandal"
Selma Blair on "Anger Management"
scrapple 08-17-2016, 09:22 PM Wasn't George Maharis fired from Route 66?
Not a star at all, but Desi Arnaz fired the guy who played his agent Jerry on I Love Lucy for messing up a scene.
Tubehead 08-17-2016, 09:39 PM red fox got fried but i didn't think he got fried they were discussing his salary
!! thats why they putt grady there! which i didn't like!!
Edward216 08-17-2016, 10:45 PM Michael Muhney. He was fired a few years ago from the daytime drama The Young And The Restless for allegedly sexually harassing fellow cast member actress Hunter King. He's always denied it but it makes you wonder. The character he played is still on the show being portrayed by a different actor. I think he also had a recurring role on the short lived Veronica Mars.
Actress Hunter Tylo. Best known for starring on the daytime drama The Bold And The Beautiful for several years. She was going to star in Melrose Place. She told the producers when she was hired she was pregnant and they fired her when she had barely started on the show. She sued Aaron Spelling over it for wrongful termination and actually won her lawsuit of several million dollars.

Dale Key 08-19-2016, 06:58 AM Shannon Doherty was fired from two shows: Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed for being too difficult.
Isaiah Washington: everyone knows this story even if they've never watched one second of Grey's Anatomy.
Brett Butler: lead actress of hit sitcom for drug problems.
Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete: fired from The Talk after the first season, Remini alleges it was because Sharon Osbourne complained about them being "too ghetto."
Edward216 08-19-2016, 10:44 PM Jamiee Foxworth. When she was still a young girl she was unceremoniously dropped from Family Matters. Simply because her character didn't seem as popular as the other child actors' characters. She'd played Judy Winslow the youngest of Carl and Harriet Winslow's children. The show simply went on as if she'd never existed. She was never seen or mentioned again. >:(

no you're right, Redd Foxx wasn't fired from SANFORD & SON. He had a dispute with the producers and walked off until they gave him what he wanted.
treky 08-20-2016, 01:33 AM YEARS ago, in the 50s the first host of BANDSTAND (which later became AMERICAN BANDSTAND) Bob Horn; was fired and replaced by Dick Clark; after committing statutory rape.
Nordy 08-20-2016, 05:06 PM John Amos said he did in fact get fired from Good Times because he was a "disruptive factor"
JamesG 08-21-2016, 03:07 PM Jennifer Esposito was let go from "Blue Bloods" when she revealed she had celiac disease.

Actually, the offense was drunk driving.
treky 08-25-2016, 01:06 AM Actually, the offense was drunk driving.
no it wasn't, I read that in Dick Clarks autobiography ROCK ROLL & REMEMBER.
brettfan 08-25-2016, 02:00 AM Dick York was replaced by Dick Sargent on Bewitched. York wasn't fired as much as he was mutually let go because he wanted out. Sargent was the original choice for the part of Darrin but had decline and this time he jumped at the chance at replacing York when he was asked.
John Amos was fired, however, on Good Times and his character was killed off. Amos was angry about the story lines in the show and the stereotyping of the show as being negative to the black people in the ghetto. He was fired after complaining in 1976.
Lisa Robin Kelly was fired off That 70s Show twice. The first time was after coming to the set drunk and unable to read lines properly. The producers thought she had changed and gave her a second chance as she was written back into the show over two years later, but she was abruptly let go again. She later died of intoxication.
Michael Strahan recently without warning quit Live! with Kelly Ripa. It seemed he didn't enjoy doing the show after he joined in 2012 and jumped at the opportunity to move to ABC's Good Morning America so he abruptly quit. It wasn't a firing as much as quitting and moving to a new show.
Debbie Matenoupolous was fired after the first season of The View because she did not gel with the cast and she went on to do many different shows. Currently hosting Home and Family and The Insider. She had left E! News in 2013.
Joan Marshall and Happy Derman were fired after the original test pilot of The Munsters and replaced with Yvonne De Carlo and Butch Patrick.
Andrew Koenig, Boner, was fired off Growing Pains after Kirk Cameron wanted the scripts of the show changed to improve the show. Koenig was later found dead in a suicide hanging from a tree. Maura Tierney was also fired from a role on Growing Pains after a rehearsal because she was not fitting in with the cast. Julie McCullough was then fired as Mike's girlfriend and written out. Finally, several writers were fired as the show began to lose ratings and Kirk Cameron threatened to quit.

I didn't know that about Andrew Koenig and the circumstances behind his departure. I don't know how he was part of the problem in Kirk Cameron's eyes. I know that w/ Julie McCullough, Cameron had just had a religious awakening and was suddenly offended by the fact that the woman playing his love interest once posed nude for Playboy.
Maybe w/ Andrew Koenig, since Boner was Mike Seaver's doofus sidekick, it would continue to reinforce the notion of Mike being a mischievous, underachieving, bad boy (which Kirk Cameron was trying to get away from once he became "born again").
glickmam 08-25-2016, 10:33 PM no it wasn't, I read that in Dick Clarks autobiography ROCK ROLL & REMEMBER.
Hmmph, that's odd. According to Wikipedia, it was drunk driving.
treky 08-26-2016, 12:29 AM oh yea, and Wikipedia's always 100% accurate.
glickmam 08-26-2016, 10:11 PM oh yea, and Wikipedia's always 100% accurate.
Well, it wasn't just Wikipedia. I also got the information from a book I read which was about the American Bandstand program itself.
treky 08-27-2016, 12:47 AM well, I read the book back in the 80s and I have an excellent memory so either your book was wrong or this is one of the rare times that my memory's failed me.
Heenan Fan 11-10-2016, 08:36 PM Roseanne Barr fired John Goodman twice, but it never took. Cooler heads prevailed and John never missed a show - until the final season in which John himself decided to do a limited schedule.
treky 11-11-2016, 02:46 AM Mackenzie Phillips was fired from ONE DAY AT A TIME twice.
MikeLutton 11-11-2016, 02:18 PM I never knew Roseanne had john goodman fired from Roseanne twice good thing it never took
learn something new everyday
liane60 11-14-2016, 12:54 PM I thought Shannon Dorety quit Charmed because she didn't get along with Alyssa Milano.
liane60 11-14-2016, 12:55 PM John Goodman quit Rosanne because he got tired of the show,
Babalu 11-18-2016, 11:26 PM John Goodman quit Rosanne because he got tired of the show,
Why not? Everyone else did.
liane60 11-22-2016, 01:13 PM Too getto? Maybe she's too English.
liane60 11-22-2016, 01:15 PM I can't believe Rosanne would ever fire John because to this day they are still good friends. He told Howard Stern he just tried of the show after a while.
liane60 11-22-2016, 01:16 PM Yea and Valerie when she was fired from the show, sued the show and won.
liane60 11-22-2016, 01:20 PM On Veteran's day Debbie and the other original cast of the View, but not Barbara were on.
liane60 11-22-2016, 01:25 PM Just because Dick Clark said one thing in his autobiography doesn't necessarily make it true, some people lie in their autobiographies just to make you think it's true, so who knows what really happened.
