View Full Version : Is It Just Me...?
scrapple 08-16-2016, 08:35 PM Is it just me or are there an ungodly number of commercials in Classic TV stations? I don't know if it was Andy Griffith or Everybody Loves Raymond or Columbo or what, but out of boredom I started counting the ads between segments, and couldn't believe how many there were. Every time I said "they couldn't possibly have another", there was Marie Osmond losing 50 pounds, the guy hawking that damn pillow or (heaven help us) that woman who fell and can't get up. I simply can't believe people put up with the ridiculous number of commercials during these shows.

It's not just you! There are A LOT of commercials on the retro channels! Between the opening song of my One day at a time on Antenna till they actually start the show after a million commercials I can wash a sink full of dishes!

AceWesternson 08-16-2016, 09:10 PM I love the original I've fallen and i can't get up
LUNCH 08-17-2016, 01:01 PM The cable channels are worse than the Retro channels. The Retro channels have plenty of commercials, but the cable channels and others have a lot more.

I've noticed this too. As bad as it is with MeTV, etc., the cable channels seem to devote only a half-hour of content for every hour slot.
loaferman 08-17-2016, 04:10 PM Not sure if I will renew my cable deal when it ends due to this. I'm paying for TV to spend 50% of the time with commercials. I don't think I can get ota in my area but if not I don't need to pay for the aggravation any longer.
I was watching "Miss Congeniality" for the 10th time one night and started counting the minutes of commercials to movie and it was way more commercials.
OH Nuts! 08-17-2016, 08:07 PM Old shows used to run 24-25 min long now it's often 20-21. So YES, I notice this too.
AceWesternson 08-17-2016, 08:47 PM when i'm watching me-tv i'm not bothered with the commercials on there except for the ad council commercials that are spammed on there so much Like the one about the annoying one unlucky guy grrrrr i hate that man, or that creepy one involving that father not paying attention to the road when he instead focuses his attention on making faces at his children. and that one where the black female makes herself get a stroke.
Tubehead 08-17-2016, 09:32 PM i do like commercials some times!! but i wish they wouldn't show too many !! if you go to movie theaters then if you get there hour to 30 minutes early they show nothing but commercials!! but what makes me madder is its the same commercials that comes on tv every day!! if you want commercials i highly recommend watching the judges shows like judge mathis or judge judy!! there's like commercials each break! then like if you watch shark tank pawn stars or storage wars then there's almost an every commercial each break like if they find something or if something goes wrong then its an commercial!!
Edward216 08-17-2016, 10:49 PM It's not just you. It's just about any channel you watch anymore though. It seems like there's nothing but wall to wall commercials these days. I don't what's going on but it needs to stop. I'm kind of sick of it.

I would not mind if they were retromercials from decades ago playing between shows, but they are the same commercials. Mostly the commercials on these classic subchannels are for older people and all sorts of stuff for them. Then you have those irritating lawyer commercials.
Mace Dolex 08-24-2016, 03:12 PM The ones for the dry cracked feet skin remover are just gross.
