If you learned there was a documentary named Doomed! and that it was about a Fantastic Four film, you might well conclude the movie in question was last year’s famously troubled, Miles Teller-starring reboot.

But no! Writer-director Marty Langford’s doc actually concerns a 1994 adaptation that was produced by Roger Corman but never actually released for reasons Langford explores in his film.

It was announced over the weekend that Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four has been acquired for distribution by Uncork’d Entertainment and will be released on VOD Oct. 11 and on DVD Dec. 20.

“Doomed! is such a compelling documentary — and not just for comic book movies but anyone intrigued by the ins and outs of Hollywood and business,” said Uncork’d Entertainment President Keith Leopard. “In short, it’s a Fantastic movie.”

Call me crazy, but I liked this version better than the bigger budget ones.

I heard about this Fantastic Four only recently. I don't remember what movie it was but I was watching a VHS and it featured a trailer for this during the opening promos.

I went "What the hell is this?" and I then looked up info. about it. I'll definitely be seeing this docu.

I would also recommend the 2015 docu. The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened? that goes into what happened during the scrapped movie that was due to come out in the late '90s.

Jon Peters, Kevin Smith and Tim Burton were on board the project at different times and explain why it eventually got scrapped. I caught it on Showtime.

The movie is bad, but I find it far more entertaining than the others. It was made so the studio could contain the rights.
I'll definitely check out the docu, and I've been curious about the Superman one as well.
