Probably not. Michael McKean was gone and everyone was tired and wanted to go into new roles. Even Penny Marshall wasn't interested in the show anymore by ep. 178... they flew her in for a few phone scenes with barely any dialouge. Carmine did the whole last episode... I don't think L&S would have been good as just Carmine and Squiggy.

The only thing I remember of Laverne in that episode was her floating in that makeshift waterbed (inflatable raft in an inflatable pool, plus water) after talking to Carmine on the telephone.
