It is with great sadness I announce that character actor Barry Jenner, best known to TV audiences for his role as Lt. Murtagh on the hit '80s sitcom "Family Matters," died today at age 75.

Born on January 14, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barry Francis Jenner spent his first 39 years in Philadelphia before moving to California in 1980, where he began his career as an NBC network page before becoming an actor.

In addition to "Family Matters," Barry appeared regularly on another ABC sitcom, "Something So Right" (after the series moved from NBC upon its NBC cancellation), as well as recurring roles on "Dallas" and "Knots Landing" among other roles.

A cause of death is yet to be determined, but Barry Jenner will be greatly missed.

In addition Barry was a great game player making many appearances on shows like Pyramid and Super Password. He was a kind and sweet man who, no matter who you were or how long you knew him, made you feel like you were lifelong friends when speaking to you. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."

It looks like he originally wrote his own obituary without providing a source which is something he does often. Personally, I believe it shouldn't be allowed. Granted, he added the link but that and maybe Wink's posting was all that was needed to begin with.

Barry Jenner, Family Matters and Dallas Actor, Dead at 75

Barry Jenner, who had roles in Family Matters, Dallas, Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and several other series, died Monday of acute myeloid leukemia at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles , per The Hollywood Reporter. He was 75.

Jenner played Carl’s nincompoop boss Lt. Murtaugh for several seasons of Family Matters and DS9′s Admiral Ross in Seasons 6 and 7. He also was Dr. Jerry Kenderson for 25 episodes of the ’80s drama Dallas.

Jenner’s other TV credits include Silk Stalkings; Walker, Texas Ranger; Remington Steele; Knots Landing and Days of Our Lives.

Fine actor. He will be missed. R.I.P. Barry
