"The Vampire Diaries" Vet Susan Walters Cast as Caitlin's Mom on "The Flash"

"The Flash" is poised to shed some light on the frosty relationship between Caitlin Snow and her mother, with the casting of Susan Walters.

The alum of "The Vampire Diaries", "Teen Wolf" and "Star-Crossed" will recur during Season 3 of The CW hit as Caitlin’s mom, Dr. Carla Tannhauser, a world-class biomedical engineer, EW.com reports.

"The Flash" opens Season 3 on Tuesday, Oct. 4th.

It appears that "The Flash‘s" Caitlin will shake her family tree in the course of exploring Killer Frost’s true origins.

"The Vampire Diaries" and "Teen Wolf" alum Susan Walters, who during Season 3 first guest-starred on "The Flash" as Caitlin’s mother, confirmed on Thursday that she will be reprising her role as Dr. Carol Tannhauser during Season 5.
