Get Ready for a New Girl / Brooklyn Nine-Nine Crossover Event

If you've ever wondered "do New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine take place in the same cinematic universe?" Fox has your answer: a resounding yes.
The network announced during its Television Critics Association Summer Tour that the comedies will have a one-hour crossover event Oct. 11, where the boys and girls of "New Girl" meet the cops of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" during a trip to New York.
It will take place over back-to-back episodes of the two shows.
"The crossover episode has historically been the artistic high point of any show that has dared to attempt it," "New Girl" creator Elizabeth Meriwether said in a tongue-in-cheek statement.
"Maybe you remember 'Blackout Thursday' on NBC, or even further back the infamous Alf/Gilligan's Island crossover of the late 1980s. New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will proudly and humbly go where few shows have gone since the 1990s. We know we have big shoes to fill, and we look forward to disappointing everyone. There's a 50% chance Alf will also be in both episodes. But there's also a 50% chance that is a lie."
"New Girl" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" premiere Sep. 20 at 8/7c and 8:30/7:30c on Fox.
